Hello there I live in the United States and am looking to start an adsense account. Where do I get an adsense account for my personal use.....and how long will it take?
You can go to this web site right here and get your tax id number and then just apply at the adsense site. https://sa1.www4.irs.gov/modiein/individual/index.jsp Code (markup): That is the site for the tax id.
If you are a sole proprietor, the U.S. gov't considers your Social Security Number as your Tax ID #. But, I don't know if Adsense allows you to put in an SSN instead of a Tax ID #.
I recommend you use your social sec # instead of a FEIN (federal employer identification number) until you plan on hiring someone. The IRS actually prefers if you just file one tax return WITH a schedule C (business) and treat it as a sole proprietorship. Much easier for all involved. Also, if you have a business id most states and local governments require you to be registered with them as well. This all gets expensive and is not necessary until you're hiring people. Best of success you!
Yeah, I agree with using your SS#. I did that and it works fine, and you don't have the headaches the previous poster points out.
I agree completely. Use an EIN # and start an LLC or LLP that limits your liability. Run everything through the LLC, then file everything under your Social Security #. I do this every year, and it works great, and limits my liability should I ever get sued.
Well I've been filing tax returns, personal and business, for 30 years, but I'm all ears. Tell me where you think I'm "wrong".
Suggestion: Don't seek advice for tax or accounting issues on a webmasters forum. Find an accountants or small business forum for some of the more critically important business decisions you need to make. I actually run my current web-related business as an LLC via my FEIN # now, but that's only because the income warrants it. In recent years I just added a Schedule C to my personal returns and didn't bother with a local or state biz license. I probably should have asked some questions before throwing advice out there.... My bad. The "right" answer really depends on your situation and plans.
If you live in US and U have legal status, i.e. "permanent resident" u should have your SSN. To run adsense u dont need tax ID, just use your SSN. anyway,Tax ID is for big boys
That is not true. You are allowed to use either one of the numbers as ur tax ID. U can get a Tax ID as a sole proprietor. You have the option of using either ur SS# or your tax id.
yes you are right you can use either a tax id or social security number other wise they would not have the tax id under the individual section as an option.....I registered probably about twenty four hours ago and just waiting for their response......how long did it you take to get registered?
If you are talking about getting a response from google, the time frame varies. If you are talking about the IRS for your tax id number, you should have received one as soon as you where done filling out the forms.
A sole proprietorship, by definition, is unincorporated, and is a person doing business under an ABN (Assumed Business Name). The ABN's Tax ID # is the sole proprietor's SSN. The only reason to get a separate EIN # is if one needs to withhold income from an employee's check. But, if you get to the point where you have employees, it's asinine not to run the EIN under an LLC or LLP, or incorporate under a C Corporation. Why run the liability of being sued by an employee or customer, and losing your house, car, or other personal assets, when it costs very little to setup an LLC and apply for an EIN #?
Again you are incorrect. You can apply and receive an EIN even as a sole proprietor. You do not have to be an LLC to receive one. Also even though you are an LLC, MOST places to get credit require a personal guarantor which requires ur SS# no matter what you are, be it a C corp an S corp, an LLC, or a sole proprietor.
