Windows have to open their sources and provide them to the community. Many country wonder about the windows security. They can not know if MS store a backdoors which will open the door for US to attack. Many try to modify Linux to used it in military.

yes All open source products are more secure , bugs can fix immediately but with MS products you must wait thas MS fix it so it take more time = more attempt from hackers
microsoft must open source of IE because Firefox become more popular & more secure

linux doesn't get hacked because no one can be bothered to hack it.

Mostly computer geeks use linux and there's no fun in hacking a computer geek.

Microsoft is just the one that everyone wants to hack..

more secure because almost all interested developers can check/tweak the source code. just imagine, developers from USA, Europe, Asia and all over the world can obtain the source, if they found any glitch then the distro developers will be informed. Unlike to MS, where the source is only seen by a group of developers.

ya i agree with monty, Its not so much because MS takes time to solve their bugs so less attempts on hackers.

Its because most people use MS and theres more people you can actually hack or infect. Same reason why there not many hacks for mac. Cause little people use it.

Imagine sending a virus via email to lots of people that hacks a mac or linex. chances of it gettting very far, is not likely

Being that the world/internet is run on UNIX/Linux, many many people can be 'bothered' to hack it, because thats where all the really important data and systems are.

Its highly likely that there are in fact backdoors into the Windows operating systems for the NSA/DoD, especially with it having been proven in the news recently that such backdoors do exist for the telcos.

I remember what my college professor told our class once.

What can you do with Windows and what can you do with Linux?

In windows you can play games, edit pictures, watch movies, type documents and others but with Linux you can destroy the World Wide Web and rebuild it again.
