I think they are good, but they are expensive and you need an ABN (Australian Business Number) but I had a friend that just made up a random number and they approved it...

Technically you are not allowed to re-sell .au domains.

o......okay....no wonder theres a ton of three letter ones still left because the Australian government tries to regulate every thing on the internet and be a bunch of pricks :)

i had a domain from an australian registrar before lol - horrible experience - they don't allow you to transfer domains either from one registrar to another or even one account to another lol - .au domains only :/

    not worth getting

There is no resell market for .com.au If you are found to be selling you run the risk of losing the domain name (unless it's sold as part of a business)

Yep, you need to sell the business along with the domain name. I know a lot of guys that do it, but it's much more work & effort than .com domaining.

The cheapest .com.au registry is hostess.com.au for $25/2 years :) (I'm not affiliated with them)

From a domaining point of view, no they arn't real good because of the restrictions on them. But if you want to make a site they are great because there are still a pile of keywords and really nice domains availiable.

They will need to be exceptional domains to appreciate in value alot.

Because it's much more regulated, the .com.au is a much cleaner extension.

Depending on the domain I think it has value in Australian market at least.
