    Is it a better move to buy a bunch of links on paid directories or get a few sitewide links from web directories?

    IMHO it depends on what your trying to achieve short term traffic or long range PR

    I'd go for some paid directories that offer deep links, this way you can target some of your inner pages as well. Go ahead and grab a few sitewides if you can. I also agree with jminscoe in the fact that it will depend on what you want to do. The best bet is to go for both if you have (traffic & pr) the money.
