Thought that they had dissapeard off here but they seem to be back again.... I happen to know of something being sold on here that is a scam, the seller is dishonest to the core and its harmful to peoples biz and I can provide evidence of this from myself and other past buyers/users to this effect. Someone/people have already tried to complain in one of their threads and due to being extremly emotional and upset- they really didn't get their point across about just how dishonest the whole set up is. I have never reported anything on here in any way and also do not want to get into any personal slagging matches- I got burnt and sucked it up but I do feel for new people they are sucking in. I do feel extremly sorry for anyone else who may end up involved and ripped off by this person, so should I report this privatly to a DP staff member or is it of no interest and I should leave members and DP to work it out after bitter personal experiences? Free market, buyer beware and all that... It is a complete scam and people will be treated extremly badly by this person en masse. Advice from DP staff member if possible please. Thanks
My 2 cents As a rule we should share any information that is useful to fellow forum users. DP would be a much better place without dishonest members.
If you think that its detrimental to the further advancement of the community in any way, and you can put a stop to it.....why not? If its as much of a scam as you believe it to be, let that be your permission to help a few others from being scammed.
The moderators won't get involved. It is a lot of work for them to do so; plus the legal issues of it. What you can do is talk about it in the Legal Issues forum or the General forum, and report the situation to sites that report on DP scams, such as DP Scammers.
The best thing to do would probably be to ask a bunch of tough questions in the thread. That should make it clear to people that it is a scam.
That is a great approach. Not only does this pressure the member into addressing the issues in question, it brings an awareness to everything else who reads the thread. And it does so in a passive, non-offensive manner. If the seller gets upset for having the questions asked openly in the thread, it raises another flag about the person's honesty and integrity.
Well said. Scam artists can do better over at SitePoint as the moderators strongly discourage forum users from saying anything negative. In that situation, they should not call it a forum.
same thing here.. they had a scammer member their, I posted about him and they deleted it.. so I told them I'd post at DP about how they let members scam others and DON'T put a stop to them.. well after that they banned me from the forum.. well atleast my account. It just shows how much they care for members right..... As for being scammed, I think you should warn everyone about it, so no one else gets hustled too.
Any particular reason you did not leave negative iTrader feedback and mention that you did not receive what you paid for or got screwed?
Report the thread using the forum functionality but do not create a thread specifically highlighting the issue. You will more than likely receive an infraction for your trouble and the thread will be closed. Use the following icon which is found in the right-hand corner of the post;
Best you can do is report it to a lot of DP sites, like www.digitalpointing.com and dpscammers.com and dpgraveyard.com The mods here won't do anything about it.
