I Just Started A Website... Now How To Monetize It?

Alright, so I just started www.soccerspecs.net, I think it's a decent looking website with pretty decent content and as most people would like to start earning some money off it. I am a college student and thus to not have money to burn like a lot on here, so please give me tips that are free to implement. I have tried using Adsense for a few days, but the problem is that there are very few people that visit the site so I am getting few clicks.

    So...

    a) How to make the site more popular?
    b) Any other ways to monetize the site other than Adsense that give you a fixed income? Even $5-10 a month is okay, something similar Money4Banners (they have not sent me the confirmation email) or Bloggerwave?

    Thanks for your time. :)

We have a collection of quite a few good looking banners- the problem is where to put them up? I already have the link to the site in many forums, but as it is a very saturated market it appears no one wants to look at the site in fear that it will be similar to all the others.

Yes, you need to build traffic before you can start making money. After all, readers are the ones who will determine what monetization opps are out there...

There are more than one ways to build traffic for your site.

    1. First and foremost have very good content to attract people to your site.
    2. Participate in forums like DP and try to get visitors, no need to say that you have to do this in a non spamming way.
    3. Participate on Social Bookmarking sites like Digg, Stumble Upon, Delicious, etc.
    4. Write some very good articles about basic theme of your site and post it on free articles sites like Ezinearticles, etc.

To monetize your site you can consider the following:

    1. Adsense
    2. Affiliate Marketing
    3. Blog Marketing - Doing paid reviews on your site.
    4. Selling links (this would work only if you are having a high PR), etc.

Thanks for the link, site looks very interesting. :)

I had considered affiliate marketing, but since my site is relatively new and the majority of visitors are family and friends (who will not purchase anything) I doubt I will make any money, especially as my CTR for Adsense is already low. :(

Your site looks very nice and clean, easy to navigate. Job well done. Just keep the content coming and the payoff will come. No real way for instant income.
    Best of luck :)

as a reader, i think you have too many categories at the bottom, wich is a bit confusing, all the rest seems nice.
    Good luck with it!

I believe the green screen matches the site and the content as well!
But under categories, you´ve too many showing like: team names, players names, Mourinho(!), ...all appearing indivually

it´ll look better if you keep it cleaner like:
    teams, players, coaches,...generically.
For that you can add categories under a parent category, see this:
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=4425229#post4425229

    it is the 2nd post.

Hope it helps! I think the template you choosed, matches the subject perfectly.
