Does domain extension like .com, .net, .org or .info matters for search engines? do they give priority for .org domains first and then for .com domains?
You will get no preference related to positioning from the search engines based on the above extensions. Any of the above extensions could easily out perform the other.
they are different for humans not for the bots! a human user may prefer opening .com just as a habit or just typing the domain name and using Ctrl+Enter to open up the page!
Yes there is a difference. I country specific extension will outperform a non local in the sandbox time. After that there is little difference
I agree with Valley Google give preference to domains extension. The preference is .gov, .edu, .org, .com. you can do better with .info extension but it is not good to have spammers use it lot.
But com net and org are NOT country specific, so I don't see how that applies to the question asked Also, Country specific extensions do not perform better, they simply get more weight in their OWN geographic area, all things being equal.
once i had 2 directories with exactly the same domain name: funkymariodirectory.com funkymariodirectory.org i used the same template / and almost the same content for both of them, i optimized the on-page content/titles/metas for "web directory" and i hosted both domains on the same server with 2 different ips (same class c), then i did exactly the same link building for both directories. 2 months later www.mydirectory.org was ranking about 260 on google for "web directory" and www.mydirectory.com cant be found on the top 1000 Conclusion of the experience: .org's / edu / gov / int / mil may have a Slight Advantage Over .com's.
A465 to Neath Uh. If they carry more weight = performing better U are debating against yourself here....
Personally I find that .com's etc and TLD that are non specfic sandbox quite badly. After about 18 months they all seem equal. This is experience form about 60 sites built in the last 12 months. And more which are simply maturing and serp unexpectedly for some high keywords
someone told me that .info were banned from msn search since they are most commonly used for spam sites
this is interesting result. I always heard that all extension got the same effect. maybe we need more experiment.
The funny thing is that all those who are saying domains doesnt matter, NEVER did any experiments by themself, they just come here and repeat blindly what they heard or have read somewhere in the WEB. Seo is all about experimenting and learning from Experiments. thats the difference between Amateur SEOS and Professional SEOs. Seo is an EXACT Science not an opinion based thing, if someone is not sure or never did any experiement then he should not come here and say "i dont think that domains matters".. thats like saying am not sure that 1 + 1 = 2.
10/10 I totally agree A wise word that an old boss once told me. It has done me well from listening. "Regard with suspicion anyone who cannot proove what they say, for their words mean nothing, and eventually if you believe them you will get %%ucked"
how about .biz domains does anyone have any experience with them? In terms of search engine ranking i mean
I have an .info domain and a .com, even info has pr2, .com have more traffic. I can't be sure if it is because of original/qualified content.
