for my first few directories... i easily got a pr 3-4 by spending no cash on promotions ... just submiting to free directories, and announcing it on dp and all the other forums.

PR4 for one of my article directories. It took 9 months and nearly 1000 submissions. :D.

Free directories are time consuming and I don't see any possitive results with them.

What are the best paid directories that can boost your pr faster?

I've never used any directories...I get a bit worried that the quality of the directory listings may get stinky, and then eventually stink up my sites.

Q2 changed the trend. It used to be PR4 and PR2 but I lost one point across the board after the update and new sites were coming in PR 0. Nothing sice then.

john scott carried out a good experiment on paid vs free directories. There were interesting results, with the free directories not providing a PR as high as the paid directories. You should go search v7n.com, i cant quite remember the PR that 1000 free directory submissions brought:)

Nobody knows when the next update is, and its possible to get a PR7 in the time between updates.

Doesnt take a rocket scientits to work out why either. Free directories are about serp's at worst. Paid directories got sidetracked and started chasing PR and easy money. Look at the dwang its got you into. All you needed was one very very expensive link to shift your PR whereas thousand of back links would get you nowhere.

But so what? PR is yesterdays news and has zero impact on serp's which is what most people are interested in.

Just started submitting links to free directories. No idea where it's going to take my directory, but I do have high hopes..
