But you don't have to buy anything @ Million$Dig for participating, submitting your sites, your blog articles, videos, or photos. Of course if your blog posts or sites are featured once a month on the Digg homepage, I understand why you will be reluctant to participate for free

Yeah, I kind of agree, though I think MDH and MDW were original enough. However, there's the Million Euro Wiki coming up, and just too many of these million pixel-websites that add nothing to the original concept. I think a new idea is ok, I can see how the Million Dollar Wiki was a cool invention, but an exact copy of an idea is kind of lame.

I agree, and will likely stay away from anything that starts with Million Dollar (for anything that rhymes with gOOGLE or dMOZ for that matter). I mean, it's one thing to snag the idea, but at least get an original name. When was the last time something ending in "killer" killed anything?

I agree with you, but if people are willing to pay and it's legal why not do it?

One must weight the pros of getting a check with the cons of being lame. Sadly, most will go with the money... though, with just a little more effort they could actually get some staying power where the money could trickle in for even longer... but then, heh, it's almost the nature of the webmaster to be dim-witted enough to keep forking over cash for wasted outcomes.

Look how long the wordcloud scripts have been going...and then ask when the last time a wordcloud came up in the SERP while you were looking for something. People seemingly will buy into anything, and I guess it does not take a rocket scientist to be bright enough to take such easy cash.

But you don't have to buy. That is optional. It is the only "m" site that lets you participate without buying anything. You can post snippets of your articles for free, expose your expertise to more audience, get a back link, may win a prize. Of course, I understand, if your postings are hitting the digg or reddit homepage frequently, you don't have to do it in a smaller site.

Well...that MillionEuroWiki owner is a bloody looser.

First he saw JohnChow.com and he registered JohnCow.com - now he saw MillionDollarWiki and he started MillionEuroWiki.
This guy will probably get into the internet's history as the most useles, no-brainer ever.
I hate the people without creativity who are not able to use their brain in order to create something unique. It's always easier to steal someone else's ideeas.

Might as well milk an idea for all its worth.

He managed to make the right move at the right time though. Both of the websites you mentioned have made money. The cow thing I like. It's creative enough, and though he initially got his traffic using John Chows fame, he does have some active readers now, and is posting unique content. However, MEW is something I do not like. Too simple copying, nothing really unique about it.
