In this post - http://www.nohaxnetwork.com.au/showthread.php?t=567 he copied content from http://www.counter-strike-source-tips.com/pistol-weapon-tips.html and another page of mine. The two pictures are also hotlinked. It says his last activity was 1 week ago, so I emailed him asking to remove the copied content, but what if he doesn't reply?
Since he hotlinked you, have some fun with him. Make a crazy picture that says something like "This blog is gay! FUCK THIS SITE" etc etc. Replace it with the picture they hotlinked! Anyways, it's a board. People don't really think that much when they write posts on boards..
I guess I could change the picture, but I would just have to remember to rename the original one and edit that page on my site, so my visitors aren't offended. It probably wouldn't do much good anyways since it looks like nobody visits his site.
Find out where he lives, go knock on his door, tell him who you are and then say "Be seeing you real soon." He won't sleep soundly for a long time after that.
do a whois look up and find out who the hosting company is. It's simple to claim copyright infringement and get a hosting company to force the site owner into compliance. Cheers!
Who had it first has nothing to do with it, its the more authorative site that will rank and the other will most likely go supplemential. I'd definately swap images.
This has been removed off our site. The post you can see is an old site that is going off line in a few days after being inactive for a few months. This guide was given to us by someone else, we were unaware that this was copyrighted material. If we had of recieved the email, (which we didn't), the content would have been removed immediately. We are sorry for any inconvience.
Best thing to do when that situation arises from what my lawyers told me is first try to contact the owner to take it down and give them one week if it is not taken down send them 2 cease and desist letters one about the exact content and the second about stealing your content in general. This usually scares most people into not touching your sites content again.
Very noble gesture Igloo, and very decent of you to signup and post in this manner. If only everyone were like that on the internet!
Bad idea.. its funny but it also brings down the quality of your site.. I remember seeing those kind of hotlinked images and I got disgusted by the site that was behind it.
This, and people will also report your site to google saying you host images like that. It has, and will happen if you do that.
