As a directory owner do you accept url's with 4 words, 3 dashes in between?

I have a website im making, which has 4 words, and 3 dashes to separate these. Example:www.word-word-word-word.com. The site will consist of over 100 pages of unique written content. As a directory owner does this make you reject sites having dashes in the domain name?

If its not a MFA site or does not contravene my guidelines, I would accept it regardless of the nature of the domain name.

Just because the URL is so, I wouldn't reject it. I'd need to look at the site, and then make my decision. If it, as you say, has 100 pages of unique content which could help my visitors, then why not ?

any sensible quality directory would not base a rejection/approval of a site based on the domain name alone. Most people in this business already know that most of the good .com domain names are already taken, and it is getting harder to get a quality domain name. That being said, if the site actually has good content and good intentions, most directories would accept it into their directory.

I'll admit that if such a domain name crossed my queue that I would look at it a bit harder, however, that alone would not stop me from accepting it.

And as PixelSteamed already said it is getting harder and harder to find names that are available or haven't been tainted.

I don't check the URL usually, just check what the content is, and delete MFA sites.

It does not matter what URL you submit. What matters most is the content on the URL. If the content is good enough -you may definitely get in.

that url is perfectly fine by me

this one worries me i definatly check the url its the first thing i do.

what if some submitted for example totalbollocks.com with a title of Seo Web Directory and all you do is check the website for content and all looks ok its not really a good domain for a family friendly website is it.

    i wont refuse it but..

i guess u want a 4 words domain to target a popular keyword combination in the search engines, well there is a serious SEO problem with that, google raise some red flags for domains with more than 1-2 dashes because they see it as an attempt of manipulation and also because of another black hat problem that i prefere not to discuss here..

4 domains/3 dashes is really not the way to do it, its also very hard to remember and painful to type for your visitors. u should try to find a brandable and easy to remember name, its better in the long run and if u have quality content like u say then people will link to u and u will get good rankings anyway.

    good luck.

Many set up shop on keyword rich domains and mirror the content from their primary site or set up keyword rich sub-sites for individual products and services. We won't accept mirrors or what I'll call vanity domains.

I wouldn't reject it, but I would be surprised.

Its not everyday that you see a 4 word domain like that.

I wonder what the character limit is on a domain.

A sensible limit as it could get a bit crazy, although we know many go for a reasonable length domain usually.

I try and keep a domain short where possible but i wouldn't sacrifice a word in order to cut it down, i recently bought a domain (2 words) its not the shortest domain but i felt it covered the topic in a suitable way and it reads fairly nicely.

domain name is not the key factor; as others have stated, the content and quality of the site are what you want to review

Domain name is not important to most of directory owners here. Having dashes in name is nothing wrong/bad. The important thing at the time of review is "content" and that's what most (if not all) directory owners see.

I think you should also read these lines for one more time.
CReed, You are always spot on ;)

Why are you asking this in the first place?

Is there any reason for that or you just like a conversation going?
