How To Monetize a Wordpress Blog

To my dismay i recently made a blog at wordpress.com and then found out I couldn't use javascript on it.. I've never been much of a blogger exept with a small bunch of friends back in the xanga days.

Anyways...How are you supposed to monetize a Wordpress blog without the ability to use javascript? Obviously pay per click tools like adsense or any other is implemented through javascript.

I know I could use affiliate whatever, but that just seems spammy or tacky especially if i wan't to put some effort into this blog and maybe develop some friends or readers. A few clean adsense boxes would be nice.

I was wandering if anyone has any tips or advice for this problem.

I thought about blogspot but it is far less versatile, more jumbled together, harder to read, and less suiting for my purposes, unless someone knows where i can get a hold of some nicely layed out 3 column blogspot templates. All the templates sites i ran across on google were worthless. Thanks for the info in advance:)

    Google the words "Worpdress Widgets".

Study it. You'll see how easy it is.

If you wish to make money, you would be better off using wordpress or your own server. Wordpress.com blogs do not encourage commercializing your blog

Google Sucks. I'm sure tons of people talk about how to include javascript in wordpress but since Google blows all that comes up are support forums talking about how wordpress doesnt allow javasript...

...thanks for the info guys, i wanted to know specifically about wordpress, apart from hosting it myself for bandwidth issues i might run into. I myself have an amazing commercial CMS liscence that makes wordpress look like a piece...But no dedicated server...only a crappy shared one.

I don't want to do the blog just to make money, but it would be nice to be able too and i thought adsense was the least tacky way of drawing revenue from visitors.

I'm sure this one thing prevents a ton of spam that would otherwise be happening but i wish they didnt have to take out alot of other functionalities that go along with javascript. Just find a way to ban adsense or something.

All in all, i think wordpress sucks though, they don't have meta tags for posts either. There excuse is, "We can't read Your Minds" But thats lame. The CMS I run has a simple META DATA with description and keywords for any article or post or whatever. Its a simple mod to the software. thought shouldn't be hard to make.

Whats interesting though...is wordpress should somewhat suck and be weak. I mean real, everyday bloggers don't really care that much about missing functions like that.

If you're serious about making money, move to hosted wordpress with your own domain.

You cant put adsense on wordpress.com blogs, and they can delete your blog and you cant do nothing to stop them.
