    I need a shopping cart......

Customers won't be paying straight away when they make an order. They will log into their account, choose the items and they will be invoiced at the end of each month.

Any ideas on the best one?

oscommerce is what i use. I tried out cubecart and did not like it. Its also got tons of people who use it so its easy to find mods free and payed to get things you need it to do.

I have been using Zen Cart for a little while also (just in the development stages), and so far, I am pretty impressed.

Can anyone recommend a shopping cart software that will allow a customer to download software after checking out?

I would like to being selling an e-book that I have written (in .pdf format) and wanted an easy way to allow a customer to purchase it online and download it after their payment was processed.

Also, with shopping cart software, would I need to purchase an SSL certificate to offer secure checkout?

    Thx

    Tom

I believe oscommerce will allow download, but I know that Virtuemart (for Joomla) will allow it.

You will need an SSL certificate and you'd probably need a static IP too.

If you're trying to keep your costs down, I'd say to go with Google Checkout and Paypal. Otherwise, you'll be paying monthly fees for payment processing and gateway, even if you're not selling your products, which can hurt when times are slow.

SWReg? I think they should allow e-books and you do not need any shopping car with them.

I would recommend Joomla + Virtuemart for selling eBooks its amazing, it has many options many mods and components. It is a solid solution for an eShop. If you want to make sure your shop is secure you should have SSL installed and configured. If you want to avoid making your own secure payment. You can always accept payments through paypal.
