Hi all just a couple questions. 1) I recently bought a site with PR and parked it to my original site. My original site does not yet have any PR. What happens to the PR rating of the new site I bought? 2) I have seen that if you direct a site to another website with PR via forwarding the directed site gets the same PR of the site it is directed to causing FAKE PR. Is this the same for parked domains? If it is parked will it be considered fake aswell or will the PR be legit for parked domains? Will appreciate an insight on this. Thanks in advance.
I always thoght PR would bring in type in traffic. Even so is there any1 that can help answer my question? Would appreciate to have the knowhow just incase.
Then why are people so stuck on buying sites with PR? Its ready made traffic if the site has the same content you are selling.
some people don't really get it.. PR has nothing to do with your rankings..PR is only for google.. and theres alot of visitors who use other SE..
Fair enough, just out of curiosity and to have the know how, is there anyone that can tell me what happens to the domains in my question? Thanks for your answers
That's correct; some people don't really "get it" — the "it" being: "Pages that Google believes are important pages receive a higher PageRank and are more likely to appear at the top of the search results." ©2007 Google — http://www.google.com/corporate/tech.html I get weary of reading the politically correct but erroneous statement that "PR has nothing to do with your rankings."
Make a website useful for your visitors, whatever niche you are. Instead of buying links, pay for advertisement and if your content is good, users will link to you naturally, contextually and that's worth a lot. Submit to directories with good anchor text. People you see that buy PR links etc. either want to sell links later or like bogs said, they don't get it. Google might never update toolbar's PR again and toolbar PR is not the internal one Google uses. In Google result you can see many of the sites that rank high might have PR less than 5 or don't have PR at all! So when you spend money on your website, instead of focusing on PR, focus on the traffic you will get...
This isn't exactly correct. Pagerank is one of the criteria used when processing a search request, and has been the PRIMARY variable used in rankings, at least where webmasters are concerned. The most recent numbers have Google with nearly 2/3's of all search queries, but I actually think it's higher. I get about 95% of my organic traffic through Google.
Thanks for the responses all, but still the question is unanswered for what happens to the domain in the question. Allthough it might be no use and might not build traffic, I still would like to know what will happen to it google PR wise just for general knowledge. Thanks again
1) it is possible to loose PR of course. And it will, if your new content is not relevant enough 2) Probably not.
so if "site 1" is forwarded to "site 2" it will get the same PR but it will be fake. BUT If "site 1" is parked at "site 2" it will again get the same PR but wont be fake? Is this correct or are they both the same? Thanks for the response grg, positve remark given
if the pr is not fake...then u can get good ranking in google ralated to your site...a good pr means a good placement in google searches...to related keywords....thats why pr is importent...dont park any site with pr site..original pr site will lose pr...because of wrong keywords and wrong description on pages... best way is focusing on traffic....and linking with pr sites those have good backlins..backlinks are importent
keep backlinks pointing to the pr domain you just bought..that's how you can be sure to keep the PR up. I would suggest putting some content on the pr domain and putting a text link to your site rather than just forwarding it. Having a text link pointing to your site probably looks better to google than just having the domain forward there
Atlast somene with some sense. Fed up of self styled experts saying "PR and SERP? Are you still in 20th century?"!
Its not a forward its parked at my host which makes it then goto the main site. Is parking and forwarding considered the same? I thought it was not as to forward a domain you dont have to own the domain its forwarded to but to park it you have to own the domain its is forwarded too, hence you cant forward it to google and try to gain fake pr or something. Im not sure so if im wrong let me know. But thanx for the idea ill try to build some content on that site although I have no idea what to do :*(
