I'm new to this and very confused by it all. I go to my Adsense stats and it shows eCPM, which ranges from $20-40... I went to the explanation for eCPM and didn't understand it, shown below From a publisher's perspective, the effective cost-per-thousand impressions (eCPM) is a useful way to compare revenue across different channels and advertising programs. It is calculated by dividing total earnings by the number of impressions in thousands. For example, if a publisher earned $180 from 45,000 impressions, the eCPM would equal $180/45, or $4.00. However, please keep in mind that eCPM is a reporting feature that does not represent the actual amount paid to a publisher. Code (markup): So is it the amount paid per 1000 views? Also, if not- how much do you get per page view (or impression?). Thanks for your time.
There is almost no advertiser that pays for impressions. eCPM is the effective cost for 1000 impressions on your website. If you have 1000 impressions on your website and had 4 clicks and won $1, then your eCPM is $1 (because you earned $1 from 4 clicks, not because there were 1000 impressions). If you have 1000 impressions on your website and had 0 clicks and won $0, then your eCPM is $0. This is calculated for you to see how your website performs, that has nothing to do with adsesne paying you for impressions.
Sphinks explained epcm clearly. Advertisers choose whether they want to pay by click and/or impression. Some image ads pay for impressions
Thanks for all the help guys. Shame, as a lot of people that visit my site don't click the ads. By the way, I have $5 for 14 ad clicks... is that well earning or poor?
its not bad but not good too, because it depends on your content niche, if your content niche are subject to get HPK (high paying keyword) i think $5 for 14 clicks is quite low, but if u didnt make a niche content in order to get HPK ads, $5 for 14 clicks is good....
Cheers for the explanation mate. I had seven clicks today and got $2.35 for them... two clicks later the revenue earned jumped up to $5.43 and then a click later it crawled to $5.6 Any reason for the extreme difference in click value/how do I get the highest paying clicks on my site? The niche is football (soccer) by the way, and the site is http://soccerspecs.net. The revenue earned is quite good because I only have one small ad block in the sidebar.
there are a number of advertisers that pay for impressions. I get paid for it all the time and I use it when advertising
