A Store + Affiliates

Hi Guys, I need your input on this one :)

I run a dog training website and thought about putting in a dog products store. I was thinking of getting affiliated with multiple dog companies like petsmart, etc, and list their products in my store with a direct link to theirs with my affiliate.

I was thinking that this way I could pick and choose which products I list and which ones I want to promote.

Can this be done this way, or would you recommend it? Is there a better way of doing it?

Thank you very much for your time,
    Jean

Why not setup an online store on your website and dropship products instead? It's more profitable, and you can setup your own affiliate program ;)

Thank you for the suggestion, however I never dropped shipped anything before. I've always wondered if it was safe, for me and my customers. The last thing I want is to have angry visitors who just got ripped off, or that they never got their package, that is why I was leaning towards a bigger pet store.

But I would be interested in more information on drop shipping, if you have any reputable drop shipper which carries dog products, I would be very grateful for the information.

    Thanks!
    Jean

Can't you use the widely known BANS script. I heard so much about it. Or you can use Joomla and purchase a Commercial License of the addon it has for it called CJ SmartZones I believe.

Thank you for the suggestion, that is also another good option which I had never considered or even heard of! ;) However I wonder how much people will buy through an eBay storefront when they can just go to eBay :)

^^ You said "how much people will buy through an eBay storefront when they can just go to eBay"

My response: Even if they clicked your affiliate link and purchased from another store, I still believe that you pickup the $25 registration fee (if they are new) and not to mention that you also get 50% of the eBay fee revenue.

In any manner, I'd suggest BANS if you want. Plus, who says it has to be YOUR store :D

hehe.. I think this is probably the best solution for me, and if it doesn't generate money I can always switch it :) But I think it will fit in nicely into my website. Thanks again for your recommendation, it is much appreciated.

^^ Sure thing... btw, I meant to add in the fact. Keep in mind that your affiliate link generates a cookie for so many days. In this case I believe its 120 days. So if someone clicks your link and goes back 2 weeks later and registers, you'll still receive credit for that.
