serp rank and web server location

    someone said if you wanna rank in english google, better to host your site in U.S. if you wanna rank in U.K. google, better to host your site in English.
    if you wanna rank in China in google serp ,better to host your site in China.

    You should atleast use the domain name for it. Yes it can help to host site in that country.

    if i wanna to rank in english google(u.s?), hosting in china with .cn domain will hurt my serp rank?

    There are 2 main factors for Geo-targeted SERP rank... one is where the site is hosted , and the other is the TLDcc, meaning a widgets.cn domain will rank better in google.cn than widgets.com

    Conversely, widgets.cn will be much harder to rank in google.com than widgets.com

    Well I would like to ask one thing here....

    I know a website whose server is hosted in US (a .com website) but is ranking on google.co.in, as it is an Indian Website, on all its main and generic keywords in top 10.

    So does all these really matter???

    target country domain is also important. Server Host in their own country also another factor that important. Most important one is the backlinks from your country sites.
