They are sponsoring my signature, I I have no affiliation or preference with them. I wouldn't like to comment on the site here. The decision is up to board though, so I can't choose if it stays or goes. Nope, I registered it brand spanking new. I don't have any idea why this would happen, but I'll look around. Thanks for letting me know. Yes, I'll add paragraphs. Hell no, I want a diverse committee
I need review members, please contact me on MSN if you are interested. THis is a great opportunity, so please consider it
In a corporation or DMOZ usually the board member - Meta/Admin gets the largest chunk of the loot while the review member - plain editors gets that very rare or none.
Same thing, sorry for confusion. And yes please PM me or contact me on MSN Isn't going to be a CEO, or president, or vice president... too much room for corruption.
We all start at the bottom, but some off us already been their... done that If im "involved" im getting paid for my intellectual services and wisdom + plus im to "old" to start at the bottom again... sorry
What if we all start at the top I'm a glass half full type of guy. Here is what I am thinking, if we asked for $XX for review, and also had donations. Then it could be split like this: Member 1 receives: 1/5 of money Member 2 receives: 1/5 of money Member 3 receives: 1/5 of money Member 4 receives: 1/5 of money 1/5 of money used for promotion, visitor awareness, directory image improvements, etc: Those number are just an example, but everyone would receive a fair share, nobody not even I would receive more. But the IWDAA would need to use some of it's income for improvements, marketing, and bettering of hte directory industry. Possibly we could raise money for a few members to go to a conference or something.
bobby... it was a joke nothing more Im not interested as i could never offer the "time" for something like this as my current network takes most of it as well as every other business aspect associated with it. If i ever get finished and have more time ill surely give you chance.. thx malcolm
I know its early in the game but I think that there should be a VERY CLEAR DEFINITION of what a directory is and what comprises it. Saying its a categorized website with links won't cut it and many ppl will not support it. I would also seek support and recognition from peripheral associations, organizations and companies (eg W3C,Google,DMOZ) and draw some of their board members/experts into the mix to get them to support your initiative. Some may even provide financial aid. I also suggest that if you are serious about this that your board members and reviewers be accredited themselves, in terms of professional experience, and not come across as "Gun tooting DP know-it-all cowboys with 3 month old turnkey directories". Additionally you may want to setup up a forum on the association site and move discussions around this new formed association away from external forums such as DP and into one centralized location. I'm not discouraging you from posting updates to forums but only suggesting that the associations discussion should take place on its forums to ensure that it is transparent and without prejudice. Hope this helps! PS. and don't talk about money before you get your association/site up ... it looks like a cash grab!
+Rep, wish I could give you all my rep points. You comments always hit right on the mark. Yes I am hoping to pair with other established organizations, and yes I am glad you brought up DMOZ. I am sick of hearing about all the crap of DMOZ, DMOZ in itself isn't bad, it's the greedy editors that make it bad, you have to have control over your editors. So yes I think DMOZ is an asset that should be utilized in a careful manner. Love the point about gun toting cowboys also, will definitely be careful of that. The forum idea is definitely going to implemented soon. Oh and about the money, yes I know what you mean. I can assure you that money shouldn't be a motive for any editor, because it will be very very minimal, and most of it would go towards improving the directory industry, and strengthening our ties with humans and search engines. Those numbers I just gave were a bloated example. BTW I hope you will consider being on the board as I can tell that you would make a great asset to the team.
I'm new to the directory ownership world (very new, my directory isn't even live yet) but I like the idea behind this. As soon as my directory is worthy I will submit it!
This may seem strange to some, but I think you are pure gold to be a board member. I am hoping to have some newer people to the directory market. If you are interested, let me know.
Hahahahhahahahaahhaha The first one got me going, the second one I was laughing with tears. btw, i added u to my msn if u don't mind.
