What is the "best" shopping cart software?

It will be for about 50 to 100 items. Each item will have a photo.

It needs to be easy for me to use as I am pretty much of a newb in this area.

The cost is not an issue as long as there are features that are worthwhile to me. In other words, if there is a product that is really easy to use and flexible and would be the best for my needs, then I would pay the price for it.

    thanks,
    UCG

I have used Zencart with success. It is free. It has alot of mods and great support in the forum.

The developers are still very active, so it is constantly improving.

What is the best flavour of ice cream? There is no answer to the question that you have asked as your exact requirements will be needed to recommend a top 10 and then a lot comes down to personal taste.

If cost is no issue as you say then almost certainly bespoke is the best there is as it can be created to be 100% of what you want without any compromise nor any additional code using resources for elements you dont need/ want.

hmmm, budget is no issue and people still recommend a free solution rather than say the hosted solution that 20% of top retailers use that is about $20,000 a month.

Wonder if zen cart really is that good or if people just are repeating the same answer they heard else where?

No, I use Zen Cart, and it is a great software. Template changes get a little annoying though.

But to say it is the best, have you used the other "cost is not an issue" solutions to cross compare? I cannot remember the name off the top of my head but have you used the $20,000 a month solution to cross compare? It seems there must be a fairly good reason why 50 or so of the UK's largest stores are using it rather than the free option of zen cart.

Oscommerce will give you a lot of options and it's free.

EasyStoreHosting platform is a good choice if you want to get an online store launched quickly, especially if you lack technical skills.

Wordpress has a free plugin called WP e-Commerce, It very easy to use and has been around long enough for bugs to have been worked out!

You can use WP E-Commerce plugin. But it is really difficult for you to setup your cart page, and integrate the system in your WP theme.

There is another cart plugin for Wordpress such as, Cart66. But I don't have any experience using it yet.

If you have 50-100 products and you are looking for easy shopping cart than wordpres based wpcommerce, Joomla based virtumart or ZenCart is good.

Its also depends on which kind of payment gateway and shipping methods do you want to use.
