Think you're missing what 8everything just told you. Think about this one. 1 dollar Canadian = 99.8 cents US, what's bigger? It costs you 99.8 cents to purchase 1 Canadian dollar.

Hmm... yesterday it was said that 1 EUR = 1.40 USD - which is amazingly high rate. It sure has an impact (taking into consideration that 1 EUR was 1.20 some years back).

It's quite wonderful that some banks gave too easy loans years ago, and today it means that the I'm losing 20 cents for every euro. ;)

Yes Canadian $ is stronger than USD today ....first time in 30 years. American $ heading toward peso land...sucks as ad revenue is US based so it can go back to 1.4 anytime

Ok maybe you're right, guess it depends what source you go to as it's probably fluctuating throughout the day :)

Curious to see what it closes at.

You know, your typing style is truly embarassing to those of us Aussies who like to get away from the "stupid redneck" stereotype.

"Location" doesn't mean "from". I used to have a really stupid friend who used to call Canada, Canadia - he grew out of it though. :)

But anyway, I'm in the UK so it's quite good for me buying stuff from the US, but not so good getting paid by Google Adsense - swings and roundabouts.

It's good to have a strong currency to buy and weak one to sell. :)

That is so unfair, I love my scones :(
More seriously I took a job in the USA two years ago, and have seen my salary go down by about 25% against the pound despite two wage raises!
Check out this chart on the euro/dollar (bottom of page)
    In 2001 1 euro = 85 US cents, now it equals 1.41 (a 60% raise in 6 years)!

From the early 50's into the early 60's, the Canadian dollar surpassed the US dollar. In the 70's, it was about equal.
Why is this a big deal? Is it because you've never seen it in your lifetime? The Canadian dollar is actually increasing against many currencies and not just the US dollar.

Good for them; there's not much else to say.
