Hi Since My directory is almost 2 months old now. I am getting some websites which is just for adsense, Only few content but basically they are only for adsense.. So what I want to ask directory owners is What do you look in websites when you approve them, What are the steps you take.., Do you check their PR?, Does Design Matters?, Does Number of pages matters? Suggestions are highly appreciated.. Many thanks
Relevant content to category, if site's content is not illegal and if payment is on my PayPal account
I don't mind Adsense ads but the site must have some informational as well. There are some (almost rare) sites that are made to get revenue for Adsense ads but at the same time they provide certain valuable information as well. So far I have listed only two of them. Sites with one paragraph of content (copied) and 3 adsense ads don't get the chance to be listed in BWD.
No, why would you? Yes to some degree but content is more important, for example if someone submits a really beautifully designed directory but the directory has no listings we won't accept it. Experience tells us it'll be dead in a few months. Also is the site done in a way that allows the text to be read, i.e. a site using purple text on a blue background is not readable so won't get listed. Only in so far as a single page site tends to have a short life span and so results in more work deleting these dead listings from the directory. Other things we look at (applies equally to paid and free) are: Are there footer links and if so where do they go? Is the site made just to promote another site? If the site is selling or is a business does it clearly show a phone number, trading/postal address and offer an online contact method. Is there hidden search engine spam text on the page, web designers and SEO companies are particularly bad for this. Are there broken links within the site navigation or is it under construction. You can go on and on with things to look for, but at the end of the day it's up to you to decide your requirements and stick to them.
PR wont influence my decision to list in anyway. The design has to be reasonably decent, acceptable at least, not award winning though as many sites that are not amazing looking can really be great at just serving their purpose. If the site has a reason for only a few pages then thats fine, there are plenty of great sites out there that dont have thousands of pages. Other things i check for is on a shopping site i see if it just leads to amazon and generally if the shopping cart is working, i often check where their linking to as well. I check if some pages and links work, sometimes check if their hiding spammy text maybe in the footer. Have they used a work repeatedly about 150 times on a homepage, some do. Various other things i will check too, the type of site will influence my decisions to delve a little deeper. Adsense, and others are fine as long as their not doing the obvious.
