Hey, I have come across the article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yahoo! I was surprised to see this Dot-com bubble (2000-2001) On 3 January 2000, at the height of the Dot-com boom, Yahoo stocks closed at an all-time high of $475.00 a share. 16 days later, shares in Yahoo Japan became the first stocks in Japanese history to trade at over ¥100,000,000 reaching a price of 101.4 million yen ($962,140 at that time). I just cant believe that.... Can you??? Also, some months back I read that the shares of Berkshire Hathaway reached $1000,00 .. I was surprised to see that also but what about this $962,140????/
thats nice find, well i never knew yahoo was listed in japanese market , just tracking current yahoo stock prices in us market, its kinda ranging between $23-$32
Well the current market price doesnt matter... as that $9XXXXX rate was 7 years back and that stock may have splitted several times... and Regarding berkshire hathaway that stock touched 1000,00$ because that company listed in two names berkshire hathaway A and berkshire hathaway B.. out of that one touched $1000,00 as its not publicly traded and also that stocks never split.. its berkshire hathaway B stocks trades at $3915.00 now and A trades at $117400.00 now.... Yahoo Japan is the most poular site in Japan if am not wrong.. its more popular than Google there...
Hey you are mistaken.... $25 is in US not in Japan... thre is no relation between that as it depends on the number of shares.... That is the market capital remains same in US and Japan but the number of shares in the market is differetn. Thats why Microsoft's share trades at $30 and Google's share trades at $560 but Microsoft's value is almost double than that of Google ...hope you understand that....
Well I have checked Yahoo's charts and find that in Yahoo's true valu is $600 now when stock splits are taken into account I have calculated the stock price of Microsoft.... its calulated as US$8,640 from its IPO price of $21 in 1986 While google rose from its IPO price of $85 to the present $560 or so.
Yahoo Japan and Yahoo are two different companies. Yahoo holds 33% stake in Yahoo Japan. http://ir.yahoo.co.jp/en/holder/status.html The highest price that Yahoo has touched was $500 on 4th January 2000. The stock has been split into half twice after that - on 14th February 2000 and 12th May 2004. Thus for current stock, the life time high is $125.03.
