I think first you should learn the basics of how search engines rank sites for search results. Once you know the factors that affect the rankings, you can learn how to improve those factors. There are books, but nothing is better then practical. If you get chance to work with somebody, which somebody already offered you on this thread, thats the beat way of learning. And in other ways you can go to school.
hello... just be patient and learn... read some books bout seo and apply your knowledge what you've learned from it... being seo expert or seo specialist is not as easy as you know,...and being seo expert is like you are counting 1,2,3 and learning a,b,c...its a long time process and continues learning... just keep it up...like teachers who want to become a PhD. they need to study first..."always begin on the ground before you can reach the top of the mountain"...
A+. Like anything else in life, to be an expert in anything you'll have to go though a lot of material and hands on work. Patience is extremely important. It's a virtue not everyone possesses!
Yup, continuous learning and applying. But mastery of finding the right Keywords would be a very important factor of becoming an expert. Honing your creativity and skillfulness through experience is a necessary step.
Well, it depends on the person. Every person developed his/her own skills and create different technique.
i am confuse/curious to the so-called SEO "EXPERT"..."expert" are they really exist?... well as far as i know "expert" are those people who know everything am i correct?...if you know new or the latest technique to the SEO it doesn't mean that you are expert am i correct...?..
Time after time I have spoke to people online that they claim they are "SEO Experts" but when you ask them to show you some competitive page 1 results "they" have SEO'd Im often pointed to serps that are not searched for that much at all. I am far far from an "expert" and if I chose to offer SEO as a paid service I certainly would have some very good page 1 results lined up to show clients. So to become an expert you need to learn the ins and outs of how search engines work and rank domains/sites especially Google. Some SEO is not based on fact but rather trial and error to see what works and what does not. So when you feel you have a reasonably good knowledge of this and you can PROVE and show what you can do then you could well be classed as an "SEO expert".
How do you figure on that one? You could have 10 years experience and be nowhere near the expert level.

Well what you asked is related more to inteligence that knowledge, i'm afraid i don't have the asnwer to that! Though its same it other fields, say you wana be a dcotor, you learn 5 years, you practise 3 years and in the end you still can't even make a basic surgical procedure. But this is something having more to do with the person directly than the education and experience! cheers
