I own a pretty large site that I think would at least be considered being at Wikipedia. I joined as a member and read that you have to edit alot of pages before people will consider your site for being listed. Any other tips or ways to get in? Looking forward to your help!

Sometimes, if the site is an incredible authority, you may get listed by others.

I think you got it right. I tried that. What I found is not pleasant. Other editors will even delete your page or redirect to a more generic one. Specially when your niche involved lot of competition.
I tried posting a page for classified advertising. They redirected to a page which contains craigslist. Looks like everybody there is craigslist lover.

You don't have to be a member or any track record of editing pages before you submit a url. (the last time I checked anyway)

But expect the page you link to to be judged very harshly and probably removed.

Lately Wiki's moderator are really picky and remove all kind of genuine links :(

The advice I have for getting on wikipedia is to find articles that have been around for a while and mildly edit them. Just add a link or something. However, if you can write an article that far surpasses the current one and happen to throw a link in, I highly doubt editors will remove it simply because the article is so wonderful. And, if they do remove it, just go back in and add it again. Make it a war, if you want, until your account is banned and the page is removed. :p

Lot of people do that. I rather spend my time on something else.

You are talking about an external link?

In my experience it's very easy to get external links listed. You just have to remeber a few things:

    Quality, relevance, persistence

First, your site needs to be a quality site and a relevant one. Just submit it and if it gets removed... submit it again. You can get your IP ban for a few days if you submit constantly but as long as you just submit a quality site on a relevant page it should stay there.

More likely than not it's competitors removing your link. Because you do get pretty good traffic from Wiki externals. Read my article on it here if you like.
