Iran blocks access to Google and Gmail

Iran has blocked access to the Google search engine and the Gmail email service.

"I can confirm these sites have been filtered," said Hamid Shahriari, the secretary of Iran's National Council of Information, but no reason was given, Mehr news agency reported.

Iran has intense censorship on cultural products and internet access, banning thousands of websites containing sexual and politically critical material as well as women's rights and social networking sites.

This form of national internet censorship is becoming a problem.

I know that leaders in the pack, China, are selling they technical know how to others repressive regimes.

They do this for political reasons, but this form of strick internet control can only hamper their economies.

If the government of the country I lived in was blocking access to certain information and websites, I would move to another country that didnt. Simple as that.
