I'm new to CJ. Is it possible to start up a store selling something out of CJ using adwords and make on it? I can understand that if you already have a high traffic site it would be worth adding CJ products to it. The competition seems so high for every product in Google Search. Or is it best to provide some kind of unique content and add CJ products to that?
Adwords alone won't do it, but a combination of marketing techniques (including adwords) can be very lucrative.
Yes, AdWords alone can do it. Many CJPs (CJ Performers, over $10k/month in commissions) solely promote products and services through AdWords and other search marketing platforms, with no natural search or content traffic. You just need to find a good niche & figure out how to bid correctly. You also have to be willing to lose money during testing of campaigns.
I disagree. You will find yourself (especially just starting out) at a very bad ROI (return on investment) if you do just adwords. You MIGHT luck out and find a niche, but those are few and far between. My opinion is it's a bad idea to spending $400 to make $500 and show only a $100 profit. You could find yourself the following month in the hole big time. SEO, online and offline marketing, community based, etc all very helpful in getting things profitable. Just my opinion and certainly folks can disagree with it.
Try telling that to my bank account If you don't do your research, you'll lose money. If you don't design and test multiple landing pages, you'll lose money. I'll also agree that $100 profit on $400 isn't that great... but it's a place to start. I'm a 5-earnings-bar CJ publisher, and I've only been running search campaigns since August 2006. It took me from August to December to finally hit it big, and I haven't dropped off ever since. Don't necessarily focus on lots of tangible products from a large store. Focus on a specific product, specific niches, and KEYWORD RESEARCH. It's very profitable if done right SEO generally takes much longer than SEM to make money. I've started to take my best SEM campaigns and start SEO work on them, because I'm able to view stats about clicks, conversions, and all good stuff like that. Offline marketing is generally a lot harder to do, and a lot harder to track specific resukts.
