Does having a keyword in your link actually help your rankings? I use webceo for my submission and optimization. I have two sites that sell the same thing. One site using a keyword in the actual domain name and one that does not. The one that does not is actually ranked number one on my main keyword. Webceo states that having a keyword in the domain name helps but the one that is in the domain name is on page 6? So does anyone have any experience with this?
It should help. if site without is ranked higher it might have more links to it or be better Seo for that keyword.
It is the same site ran in different home directories on my web server machine. It uses the same mysql database and everything. Could that be the problem since it has the same data on both sites, but is two different domain names?
Keywords on Domain Name definitely helps big time. If you are using same content, your sites may get penalized for duplicate content.
yes it does help. I have some google search from them already. So it is a PLUS to have them in your url.
Thank you guys for the input. I guess I will have to split the database to have different content on each site.
It does really help, with keywords in link title. It also helps to have a keyword in a domain, but what helps more is the number links that point to your site/page that sells something.
Keywords in the URL really helps to improved SERP. But content and other elements can still affect your SERP. So, even your URL doesn't contain targeted keywords it can still have a good ranking depending on the quality links and the content of the site.
Yes if you have your keyword in the domain name it will definitely help you in ranking in the search engines.
Of course you should! Having 2 identical sites on different domains may become a reason of duplicate content penalty. So you may have different content on them, or just redirect one of your domain to another. What about keywords in links - they are very important. Because Google pay a lot of attention to the anchor test. And of course because of your visitors Really, it is better to have descriptive and keyword reach anchor texts so that the visitors can know where they are going and why
You must put your keyword in your clickable link "Anchor Text" If not you will rarely ever rank for that keyword.....
