Anyone have experience using bulk e-mails?

I am thinking about trying bulk e-mails. I know that there are so many spam filters, but in the past I have also heard that the conversion rate is high enough given the number of e-mails sent to justify sending. Is that still true?

Does sending bulk e-mails from a service have the potential to black list my site or do anything else negative?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

If the bulk mail has your URL in then expect to be blacklisted unless everyone on the list opt'd in. If the email is seen as spam then your host might have to take your site down depending on their rules for that kind of activity.

    Just proceed with caution :)

Thanks Matthew. I was thinking that might be a problem. I have spent years on my site and I don't want to risk ruining it. I just have a very niche target and am trying to figure out ways to get to that target.

I tried this kind of marketing strategy. But during that time, the SPAM filters were not that strict. :D

Not sure regarding the conversion rate, maybe if you bulk email a 50k recipients, there will be a chance of someon will buy your product.

In my experience bulk email is a very bad idea to handle yourself. I would find a 3rd party company to do it so you have no problems. Even with opt in emails people forget they opt'd in and report you causing all kinds of hell. Getting your mail server blacklisted or even getting you banned from your host. approach bulk email with care its a dangerous playground because of all the spammers and trigger happy victims.

For bulk emailing better ieda is to go for building your own opt-in list and that is not a fastest of the jobs, so you have to be patient and work hard on it.

Hi, using bulk emails has to be threaded upon carefully especially if you do not know where the leads are from, ie the lead source and whether the bulk email broker is reliable. It can get you into a whole lot of problem with spam laws. Be careful when you use bulk emailing services. It is just not worth it to lose a good reputation over this.

Simple as this; don't do it.

    It's dangerous
    It's ineffective
    It's stupid

Thanks to everyone. I guess I knew deep down that it was not a good idea.

I do have my own list, which grows every week. I have over 2000 opt in people.
