just how do you suppose iran will start to pose a substantial threat?
by actually launching nuclear missiles at israel?
if it does this, and this would indeed be a substantial threat, then it would mean israel would send its biggest and best back at iran. killing two birds with one stone, namely the isreali/palestinian conflict - for there wouldn't be a country there anymore or any surrounding it for that matter - and iran would be wiped off the face of the world as well.
no other threat would be substantial enough for any nation to launch an attack.
iran knows this, and the west knows this, but of course each side has play this media game of 'out posturing' the other.
as soon as iran started to develop nuclear weapons it knew it was safe from the same fate as iraq and afghanistan, that is what nuclear weapons are for, not to actually use but as a deterrent to attack from outside forces.

A substantial threat would be Iran obtaining Nuclear Missiles, the whole point of the sanctions is to stop them doing this, by continuing to brake the sanctions and moving towards a weapon they would be an imminent substantial threat, i don't think they'll be able to get to that point though.

We will not sacrifice Israel. We will just cut out the middle man and bomb the h&%@ out of Iran if they refuse to stop building nuclear weapons. Yes, much better idea.:)

It's not a 'cold war' between Iran/Syria and the US/Israeli/European bloc, this is between China/Russia and Occidentals.

The US invaded Afghanistan, then Iraq (with the participation of European soldiers), and Israel invaded Lebanon.

I'm also confident that the conflict is unavoidable between Iran and the US, with Syria and Israel on the side.

That is a very good post.

It seems that today the only way to prevent your country from being ruined by the warmongering hawks in charge of the USA is to have nukes.

Say no to any kind of violent action. Violence is not the proper path to peace. Why would the US bomb Iran anyways? Cause they have nukes? if that's the theory we are going with then I would ask another question ... When do you think the US will be bombed? They have nukes, and are known for selling them to the cheapest bidder + Same with chemical weapons.

Let it be known that the only reason the US "thought" there was still chemical weapons in Irak is because the same donald rumsfield that told us that iraq was a threat ... sold them the chemical weapons he used on the kurds in the first place. o.0

Name the last time the UN voted for military action when sanctions failed. I wish the people of Iran would over throw there government like they did to the Shah in the 70s.

Yes but that assume the logic that Iranian leaders are sensible, responsible and most importantly not suicidal. They already showed that they don’t care about their own people. The only question is if their suicidal enough to drop on nuke on Israel and I think they are crazy enought to do it.. How do you stop someone who is willing to killing millions and in the process if they die they don't care?

I believe the last UN report stats that they are two to three years away from having a nuke.

Anyone living in reality would understand this. Sad that not everyone is living in reality, tho. Can't blame them. They don't know shit about what it feels like to be constantly in fear for your own and your family's safety.

    Actually, I agree.

The American people don't seem to have much say in all that though. We can vote? It matters very little. This is barely a democracy. It's who you know and how much money you have that gets you elected to the top offices.

Those top offices are the people that are deciding who we bomb, embargo, and hunt down.

Who we "defend" in the world is directly tied to our strategic interests. Did we do anything about the genocide in many parts of Africa and some parts of Europe? No. Milions died and we instead attack another country because of supposed weapons of mass destruction. We went there for the oil. If Africa had most of the oil, we'd be there instead and the Middle East would be left alone to do whatever.

It's a sad state of affairs.

By the time the UN is done with resolutions, never, we will be bombed and liberals will still be crying "no war", as will the UN.
