    I would say WinXP :D
You won't be more productive on a mac.
    It's all about habits.

Mac...I switched two years ago and also never looked back. I thought about not being able to upgrade as much since I built my computer before then but now I realized that I don't need to upgrade. I love the fact that I don't have to worry about it. The way things work on the mac is far better than Vista (Dock, spotlight, app installation, etc). Whenever I use my vista desktop, the taskbar sends a pain down my back :D. I have yet to encounter a program that is on Windows and doesnt have a Mac counterpart. If I ever do need to use a Windows-only program, I can just install it and run it in OS X or in Windows. Best of both worlds!

I do not understand that why we have to upgrade hardware and software while it is working so good. In this case, XP work well and all software work on it is stable and very good. But now MS force us to upgrade. I really dislike them. I will change back to linux. Linux can be optimized to run with only core + minimum services. I can change linux so it can serve me which i want.

imo the worst part about mac is the lack of hardware upgradability and the fact that you cant overclock..but i think that even that outweighs vistas many failings...

You don't have to upgrade after 2008, keep using XP forever. Also the 3rd good alternative is Linux.

for god sakes, can people please stop claiming microsoft copied apple. Yeah some of the features may be a lil similar, but would you rather not have these features? They're making logical improvements. Also I find vista awsomely stable and have not had it crash yet. And looks wise OSX looks fresh out of a freeware "brushed chrome style" you would of seen for xp. It looks pooooooor.

Excelent post man. For how many years Apple portrayed intel as a snail with Microsoft attached to it. I guess the snail is faster then the "rabbit" they claimed to be using. Apple is playing catch up game.

If you look at most programs they advertise on Apple systems. Yet the buyers of these programs are Windows users. As you said Apple is a marketing company. Bill does not have to use a bunch of Mac Windows adds to tell people the difference. If your product is good let it shine for itself. And BTW If you believe Apple is not tailing Microsoft watch the conference Bill did with Gates earlier this year. You Mac users and those of you who have iTunes can download the podcast via iTunes.

Nah Vista is bad but not THAT bad. I would keep to Vista if those were the choices. I use Server 2003 or XP atm.

I like mac because their history, microsoft have never been a nice company i would never give them the satisfaction of buying their operating system.

But I would always use Linux, its the most stable OS out of all of them, Kubuntu for life!

Mac does not have a plesent history with third party developers. Why do you think no one is intertested in building products for them. If Toshiba should tell you the truththey have given them hell with the hard drives they make for their iPods. Look at how they handeled Sony over the overheating batteries last holiday season.

I don't favor any company because you'll generally be disappointed in the end.

I have a desktop PC for gaming, and processor intensive stuff....and I'm getting a MacBook Pro because I want a notebook without crap on it.

Apple isn't a big company? What is your definition of "big company" then? :D

I don't like Vista, it's make me headache because its unstable, so I switched back to XP, but for graphics I use OSX

In terms of the GUI interface I've got Object Dock installed on Vista so It looks pretty nice. The real problem is all the small quirks and problems I'm having.

For example, my Device driver says my soundcard is working just fine but I can't hear any sound when I'm trying to play music or video. I actually can hear some windows sound effects though.

Another problem I'm having is that some programs (like the Windows Sidebar, Adobe PDF) shutdown by themselves and they won't open up without a restart.

I thought about buying a Mac and adding Parallels Desktop 3.0 but I've read bad reviews for Parallels too so I might as well just stick to what I have.

Big is relative. In this case I am comparing them to Microsoft, Dell, HP, Toshiba, Sony and the likes.
