Hi DP members, I was wondering how do YOU find information for your ebooks if you don't have a clue on what it's all about? And don't know where to look and where to start? Kind regards --Dedy--
If your asking this question, it's probably not the best idea writing the ebook in the first place. Just a thought.
Ebooks, to me, flow best when an expert is breaking some complex thing down into simple terms. If you are looking to have an e-book on a subject you don't have a clue on, then it's best to hire a writer to do the work. The good thing about that is, after you own the rights, you can still sell the ebook to people who are as clueless as you are now.
Do you know what topic you are focusing the ebook on? how much do you know on that topic? I don;t think you have to be an expert on a topic to write a successful ebook, there are many sources you can look. I would consider a combination, or websites, blogs, forums, article directories, friends and family...
I created a free eBook based on a specific topic. I think Top Dollar is right, we can sell eBooks to those who are new to the subject. As of now, I don't want to sell my eBook since there's not much "new" strategy written. BTW, you can get the guide here kantonfc.blogspot.com titled "Real World Guide in Earning Money Online" if you are curious how I created it.
Hi, I presume you are writing something you are familiar with? If that is the case, you probably already know the topic and how to research for more facts. If it is a topic you are not familiar with, it is good to pop by places like GetAFreeLancer, ELance and the like to get some ghostwriters for you.
Don't write an eBook until you are truly an expert at a topic. I have not yet written an eBook, but if I did I'd be using DP and some other forums (Sitepoint, Warrior Forum, etc) to gather information. There are lots of tips and tricks floating around here that are not widely-known that eBook readers might find useful. I suggest putting all methods into practice before putting them down on (electronic) paper.
I agree witht he poster above, if you co not have the knowledge yourself I'd definitely find a ghostwriter from Elance.com, Guru.com etc. Unless your own research skills are really good I'd use someone who prefers to research/write on a full time basis and focus on the marketing side of things yourself.
