Domain not working without WWW prefix

Look at the following:

http://www.bustathief.com - WORKS
http://bustathief.com - NOT WORKING!

I use blogger and I registered the domain through godaddy.com

Please advise as soon as possible!

you might want to check your dns settings to see if the A record for bustathief.com is the same as the www.bustathief.com

 

Can you explain more detailed what you mean with "A record" ?

I see a go-daddy domain parking page on the domain without the www's

Since you're with go-daddy you should contact their support if no one can help you here.. (call them if it's urgent).

 

sometimes it take a while i think up to 72hrs if you want it faster contact them and they should be able to fix it (by them i mean GoDaddy)

 

Yeah, I contacted them and they said I need to contact blogger... a stupid reply. Why would I be contacting them. It's been two weeks since this is not working.

 

that is stupid its not blogger the problem its godaddy's from what i see man i hate it they are outsourcing tech support and people form some small place that never even heard of computers it trying to troubleshoot idiots

i don't understand why they would think that its bloggers issue they control the domain therefore its the problem of the domain holder.

did you use the dns change or just forward the domain and mask it?

 

check the domain name with what u had registered !

 

I used the dns change. I'm working it out with a godaddy representative now. I hope everything works out for the best!

1 thing you could do is instead of using the DNS setting you can do a forward to the blogger domain they give you with a 301 Moved Permanently setting

 

you mean forward the blogspot.com domain to www.bustathief.com and it would work with both www and no-www prefix?

 

no forward www.bustathief.com to blogspot.com with a 301 perm but the thing is when the viewer gets there it wount be www.bustathief.com it would be blogspot.com/whateveryoursiteis

Worked for me mate. Probably sorted now.

 

Ping the website you are wanting to forward to, in order to get the IP address if you don't know it.
"Run"; CMD; "ping yourwebsite.com"
Will display ping data and reply from IP address. Note this address.
Login to Godaddy.com to manage your account or other domain registry site
Go to DNS Control
Modify/Add "A Host"
Under "Host" enter: @
Under "Points To" Enter the IP Address you obtained earlier.
You are done! Site is forwarded without the www prefix when entered into address bar.
