I'm noticing that most of these directories are requiring reciprocal links....is that normal? Id like to get traffic from directories, but I don't want to crowd my webpage with lots of links to directories, it just doesn't look natural. So, How do you guys manage the reciprocal linking?
if they don't require you to make a site wide reciprocal link, just create one link page special for link directories.
There are enough free directories to ignore any requiring reciprocals. I have close to 7000 directories http://www.omg-1.com/
To echo what everyone else is saying - I get almost no traffic from directory submissions. They are almost entirely for backlinks/serps.
get a link for a directory that specialies in your niche, otherwie, its probably not worth your time and money
I think that its mostly used for SEO backlink help...but I guess its dual beneficial if your site is found
Directories submission is not enough good to generate traffic. But this is good way for SEO strategies by generating a lot of backlinks.
Thanks for your input guys. I think I have come to the conclusion that most directories are only good for generating backlinks, and for SEO purposes. Traffic is a lucky dip from directories.
I'd say it depends on your websites subject. I rarely see much traffic from directories, but when I see my detail pages ranking top 200 for the phrases, then I know it's worth it
