Hi all, I recently signed up for CJ since a particular advertiser whose products I use required it. After checking out my account page I almost went insane. CTRs and EPMs and EPCs and what the F___ is everyone talking about here??? Jeez Louize... Is there some kind of dummies guide for CJ that I can read out there so I can brush up on all the terminology CJ uses and figure out what all that crap on my account pages mean? It was a miracle that I even managed to generate an affiliate link, because I've never seen so many options just to generate a link or affiliate banner in my entire life. And here I thought it'd be simple.
You can always google each term yourself... The first result at google when searching for 'CTR' is a perfect explaination and I'm sure the others are easy to find, too.
I found CJ's own tutorial here: http://cju.cj.com/publishers/getting_started/gs_pub_001.html I don't know why this wasn't in the help section of my account. That's where I had been going previously and couldn't find anything useful. Oh well, it's all good now.
I just joined them, and it's PENDING APPLICATION 4 days now. I will wait more to see if it will get unlocked. I heard lots of good things about CJ
I think you should email them if you haven't heard back yet. When I applied I got accepted within the same hour, and on a Sunday too.
I applied yesterday i was pretty much accepted instantly. I wonder what the procedure for new sign-ups is? (if any).
Linc4justice - The advertising lingo can definitely be confusing, and I'm quite sure I still don't get it all, however it's like learning a new language. Knowing the language ensures you can understand your results, and becomes valuable when you want to begin selling advertising directly to buyers.
Some merchants are instant. Some take hours or a couple of days to approve. Then there are a few that can take weeks or months. Still yet another group that seems to be DOA or asleep and just sit in your pending applications for years. I still have one sitting from 2005. CJ doesn't provide a way for a publisher to remove a pending application unfortunately.
Usually those merchants, if they have not decided on your application, won't respond. I have seen lots of people then try to contact the company directly only to have the people on the phone/e-mail not have a clue they even HAVE an affiliate program. The best programs that convert and ones to work with are the ones with active AMs that quickly respond to your inquiries. If it takes that much effort just to contact them it's usually NOT worth promoting their program. As it's a good indicator you might not get paid.
