Only Home Page indexed by Yahoo. In Yahoo Paid Directory What gives?

A client's site of mine has only its home page indexed by Yahoo.

The site is in the Yahoo Paid Directory.

Yahoo site explorer is recording numerous back links.

Our robots.txt file is not disallowing anything. We do not have any noindex or nofollow meta tags on the site.

The sites home page has been index by Yahoo for about 6 months.

Any ideas why Yahoo has only indexed the homepage and not other pages?

Any ideas on how to fix this? I am baffled.

    THanks DPers!

    - Get more and more backlinks from pages Yahoo crawls frequently to your INNER pages.
    - Make your internal linking VERY strong (Interlinking relevant pages)
    - Create a Site Map page and link it from your Home Page or each page on your site.

Try these and wait for at least 2-4 weeks. You will see them getting indexed by Yahoo!.

Being patient is another little known secret of SEO. :D

usually "index only" means you've been banned

you should try to get backlinks from other sites to your inside pages which will help the spider to see your site better.

Well, if Y! shows only 1 page indexed, then you should go ahead and check your backlinks in Y! If they are 0, then most likely you are BANNED!

Otherwise you will have to track your backlinks. If they continue to decrease each day, then this is an indicator of your site being delisted.

Probe into the case like what is wrong with the site and work things out.

Send them a reinclusion request at http://add.yahoo.com/fast/help/us/ysearch/cgi_rereview

    Hope this helps!

How old is the site in question? I asked the same question about my site when it wasn't being indexed by Yahoo at the start and Google was tearing it up daily. After another month or so Yahoo finally indexed it. Usually patience is key.

I had the same problem with a two month old site that was completely indexed by Google. After I created a sitemap and submitted it to Yahoo! SiteExplorer, more than half the site was indexed within a week. For help: Creating and Submitting a Sitemap

why don't you try getting backlinks for the individual pages within the site you want indexed.
