What would the world be like without the Quran?

I've been thinking about what the world would be like without the existence of the Quran. I must say it was a pleasant dream: no 9/11, no chopping off the heads of infidels, rights for women, no London bombings. Then I say to myself what a wonderful world.

Just wondering if I am the only dreamer around. After all, one has to wonder where do all the terrorists get their inspiration from?

Would it be something like the cruel world that existed before the Quran, but with more firepower? ALmost all religions have caused violence in the past. Even the usually-peaceful Mormons were once involved in a bloody massacre. People working on behalf of an unknown entity usually do end up turning to violence.

i agree that all organised religions cause conflicts. catholicism has caused a multitude of conflicts over the centuries not to mention the dreaded period when the 'inquisition' ruled supreme. judaism and islam are presently head to head in israel, with countless fatalities on either side, christianity (well loosely speaking) represented by the western coalition forces is presently fighting islamic insurgents in iraq and afghanistan, again with countless fatalities, and hindu's, sikhs, and muslims, are forever having minor skirmishes in asian countries.
and as with the bible, the koran draws upon the torah in its texts, as it does the bible. so if we ban one i say we should ban them all.

i dont think there is any problem with that book, there are few in this world who for their own sole benifit create these issues,
that book doesn't teach to fight nor do such things.

no but there are plenty of religious leaders who take parts of the koran and other holy texts and twist it to incite violence and war, so for that reason i think such texts can be dangerous, not in and of themselves, but only when misused to harm others.

There are far bigger problems going on in the world, Islam is just a religion that teaches you how to become a better person. If some people take advantage of it to do ugly things then that doesn't' mean that Quran is at fault.

I've been thinking what would the world be like without any religion. A pleasant dream, indeed.

You're probably right. JIHAD actually means to have a nice garden and plant flowers in it, so it must be a mistranslation. I mean you got to love that book.

And as for a world without religion...Hmmm...I do come from a communist (atheistic) country. In about 50 years alone the communists (atheists) managed to kill more people than all the wars in history of mankind combined. Russia with the gulags, China with their labor camps, North Korea even happening today, Pol Pot in Cambodia killed at least 2 million of his own. These were ALL atheists.

One difference though: an atheist is not a communist, and a communist is not an atheist...
So your quote should be: These were ALL communists, within this context...

Not all muslims are terrorists (Keeping it in context). All terrorists are muslim though (still keeping it in context). All those COMMUNISTS are atheists. Correct me if I am wrong: the goal of atheism is to prove there is no God. We've seen atheism in control and I would rather NOT have atheists in control.

I agree. We'll have probably the same problem with atheist in control or not.
However, Religous people have one more reason to make war. And they use it!

YES. Watch out for those Christians and Jews coming to bomb your atheistic group. After all, the Christians invented Islam so they would have someone to kill. And the Christians (unlike the atheists) opened up orphanahes and hospitals around the world so they can have more followers so they can win even more wars. And the Christians are against abortions so they have even more followers so they can make and win even more wars. That's the whole purpose of Christianity isn't it?
