The Aviva Stongest list is always a good place to start.

I'd then suggest looking at more unique niche sites that relate specifically to your websites content.

Ultimately you're looking to use $2000 for 20 sites... you really won't get too many submissions to good directories so try contact the owners to get a bulk inclusion - you might be able to secure a slight deduction...

Find yourself a good submission service. One that works with the free directories and get better mileage for your $$$. You are not going to get any meaningful traffic from those directories and in the present market one has to question how long they are going to survive. The free directory lists are where directory owners launch their new sites and you have a good chance of finding some that will still be around in three years time.

    No.

He is asking for suggestions and not offers.

Personally I prefer directories that offer permanent listings.

    My suggestions:

    romow.com
    dirsensei.com
    cascandra.com
    site-sift.com
    arisedirectory.com
    50pageswebsite.com

    Bidding directories:

    biduplinks.org
    dream2bid.com
    blendz.net

Many of those directories that aren't showing for their names are good too. However, I am avoiding those till the "penalty" is withdrawn.

Depending on the type of website you are submitting my Directory www.eBusiness-Directory.com is well worth submitting too. Its listed on Aviva's Strongest directory's list as well.

Contact me if you wish to discuss bulk submission pricing.

Yes but if he chooses his submissions correctly and has his keywords and site optimised correctly he can increase his SERPs and generate traffic from the SEs.

I'd be glad to take a look at your sites to see if they fit our guidelines. You can pm me for more details about index-it.net if you like.

Not sure why. I work with them on a daily basis and regularly get #1 for the key words I want. Maybe you need to look at how you are structuring your anchor text.

I think Jeff has done pretty hard work in compiling the list as aviva directory. They're for sure one of the strongest directories on net. With a budget of $1500-$2000, i am sure you can get listed in top 40 or so directories.

I would personally recommend... aviva, alive, gii, romow, v7n, directorydump, elegantdirectory, ewebpages, linksjuice, etc to get started. Once you are in these you can be proud of your link building...thereafter you can slowly and slowly build the links
