    Domain price: OK
    Hosting: OK
    Phpld: I have no idea
    Cost of promotion: No idea
Daily hours: In the start you should work for like 5-6 hours ( because you will be new to the control panel)
    Method of promotions: Forums

I started my web directory by spending the hosting fees and domain fees only. I got the free version of phplynx script and am happy with it. You too can start with confidence and see how things are going on.

    Good luck

you spend however big you want it to be. If a guy wants a big house, he needs to spend a lot. If you want a strong quality directory, you need to spend a lot.

I would get the $75 copy of phpLD, so you dont have to link back. I would get some better hosting, a cheap monthly shared host will probably be slow and have downtime. A semi dedicated server would be better if you're serious.

Next you need to consider gaining backlinks and traffic. This wont come cheap and is where the budget gets blown wide open. $xxxx - $xxxxx is required IMO.

You could easily earn $100 in your first day of being a paid directory, if people see you have invested they will definately submit.

As for the hours, it will be anything from 1-16 a day. The more time you spend the better it will be :)

Cost of promotion: In order to have a decent PR, you have to spend almost $1,000-$5,000 in purchasing backlinks

which i wouldnt advise, unless you want to get penalised by google. Better spending $5000 on content. Spend $5000 on a movie and see how many backlinks you get for free :p

Expect to spend at least $500 per month on submissions and promotions in the first few months, and increase it later on when you have gained momentum. If you are just starting out, shared hosting is fine but make sure the host is reliable.

Domain and hosting are the only costs you need to incur. Thereafter concentrate on adding real content real slow. You need to submit your site to other directories and should start with the free directories and keep adding on a monthly basis The rest of your available time you should spend knocking around this and other forums looking for buyers. If you would like, I will add your directory to a list we give out to buyers but submissions have dropped off badly for us bottom feeders I am afraid.

you can even go for bid link directory.
for hosting 83 bucks is too high to host 1 site , can cut down to 20-30 bucks a yr.

I have budgeted 10K for stage one ( B Beta ) development alone and plan to spend many times that for the finished A Alpha version.

I think you should spend time reading about what is going on here before you start spending money .

Things are changinging, nobody here, no one knows whats going to happen

Some will make the right choices, some will not

sites are listed in descending order of bid amount. The higher you bid, the higher on the page your listing is shown.

Oh Dear ? guessing that was at me ? it's a considered choice, one that will go right or wrong but i have already gone in with no expectations and happy to loose the $ if so, but not the aim.

    All is good.
