I'm getting this error and I don't know how to get rid of it.

I came across this article, but it doesn't help, since I don't have the windows XP CD, nor a boot disk.

There is no newly installed hardware either, and I don't know how I'd go about changing these BIOS values. I entered the BIOS but I couldn't find anything related to that.

So does anyone have ideas on how to bypass this? Or at least how to recover the data that is on the computer? I'm not able to boot anymore...

    Thanks.

Not sure if this will help... but whenever I have a PC that won't boot I either just pull out the drives and read them from another PC, or use a Knoppix live CD to burn my documents/whatever to a CD.

Here's an old guide on using Knoppix to save your life..

Are you running windows 2000. It may be possible to fix the problem with the disc. Try to find one on ebay.

Also you could try slaving the disk to another pc and try some disk repair software.

Within this year both my sisters pc and my own not long afterwards had this happen, my sisters pc was still under warranty and they got a replacement hardrive.

Myself i cant remember what i did first but i also read info regarding this, im sure i scanned the disk for errors, attempted at repairing, i did get things going again so its not impossible, i was on it most of a day though, things took ages and was trial and error with me going into various things but it got there.

Very frustrating, and worrying if you cant afford to lose any work on that drive, i wont pretend that i remember fully what i did but i sincerely hope you have success in getting it working again.
