Hey all, Tried posting this elsewhere to no avail, I think this might be the place. I am planning to start a free webmail service but it's not at all easy to find a script which works under the following conditions: Must allow user signup, with pop3 or imap. Must NOT require shell access. Must be easy to set up. Must be free or cheap. Must be easy to plug ads into. Please help if you have any ideas because I'm really getting frustrated looking. Thanks, Alur3n.
I've already been there. I'm asking for someone to suggest a script, not send me to another search engine...
no need to get like that. you didnt say in your post you have looked there right? Please help if you have any ideas because I'm really getting frustrated looking. so i was only trying to help you out!!
Sorry, no I didn't. I have been to all the major search engines. The only thing that looks even relatively useful is Roundcube (with a signup module) and I can't get it to work.
You should try socketmail or hivemail. Hivemail is better then socketmail, but unfortunately they have stopped the development and providing support. So personally would suggest you to choose socketmail. http://www.socketmail.com
Can users register for accounts on socketmail? (i.e. I dont have to set them up) Also does it need shell access to install?
I was going to suggest roundcube myself, although it is still very early in development. Hivemail is good if you can get it to work too, I never could, but then I give up too easily lol.
Yeah, anonymous users can register in socketmail. Nope Shell access isn't needed to install it. Its a PHP Script
