I want to submit my site to a new directory. My question: which one do you advise first: Alive or Aviva? Note: Sorry for the question, but I am travelling, no time to search. Thanks for help.
Don't get me wrong, both are great directories but why have you narrowed your submission to one or the other? There are also more than just these two available for promoting your site. Just curious.
What a ridiculous statement! While these directories may be having some issues with SERPS or whatever, they are still great resources! So my choices would be: 1. Aviva 2. Alive 3. LinksQuitters 4. DirectoryDump 5. Dirsensei
Why are they penalized? I didn't know this! threebuckchuck, it's just my monthly schedule. I am not restricted to these two.
alive and aviva are good directories they where before. and i believe they will be indexed soon again. but all depends on what you are aming for.
Beleive it or not, you are only the second person to notice that! Of course, An0n was first, one guy that really pays attention to detail. It was put up there as an experiment about 6 months ago to see how close people look at sites. Now that you posted it here everyone will see it! According to paidhosting's review of LinksQuitters it is: Pretty Sled Dogs but we like that site so I guess it's up to you guys to determine which site is crappy!
both are equal! you can start with any, though if the site that you are submitting is a blog, then i suggest you to submit it to alive blog directory! No, they are not peralized! Just the fluctuation in serps, which is already improving! cheers!
I noticed it a few months back but I didnt want to confirm what my Mom used to tell me... That was... "You are in a league of your own" Weird thing is... my wife tells me the same thing now but I'm sure she is being nasty
Dont see it myself. You would be better advised placing your site on a recently launched directory in the free lists. At least you can be sure the directory master is still on sides. The boys from Aviva and Alive haven't been seen for awhile and I question whether they will ever be able to adjust to the realities of going straight in this industry. Their content sucks, they are in it for a quick buck and have taken a bit of a knock in the last six weeks. Bad bet right now. You can get much better long term value for your $$$.
I'm not quite sure what to say here. You're certainly welcome to your opinion, and I will respect that. However, I think that just about everyone here except for you and one other person knows that I am not in it for the "quick buck" at all. As for content quality, I would say the quality of the listings in Alive Directory is better than 90% of the other directories out there. Each listing's description is also edited for unique text and proper sentence structure, spelling, etc. I would say that Aviva has similar qualities. Also, I have been here the whole time. Not sure what you meant about "haven't been seen for awhile". It seems like virtually every post you make on this forum is an attack on other directories. Why do you have such animosity for those who are trying to work hard and run a good business?
1) The directories which have been delisted for their own name still rank for other terms more important than their own name. 2) The directories were chosen based on their heavy promotion in order to send a message. 3) I know the owners of those directories and I'm rather in a group with them being penalized than most of the others who Google didn't consider worthy of touching. 4) I get a lot of traffic into my directory and my own sites listed get as many as 10-15 hits a day from them. No, not huge amounts, but I'm saying there are other benefits than the ranking benefit. 5) The best thing anyone can do now is to focus on the quality of your directory and keep on doing and improving what you've been doing and improving. When Google decides to move past this penalty, make sure you're moving straight ahead as planned. That's it for now.
@pctec - what's that ? and how did you found that ? Submit to Alive or Aviva.. Both are equal... OR Toss a coin
And the MFA sites you had listed the first and last time I looked? I suppose they were hand picked for their quality user content. Whilst I accept that you have right to list any sites you choose if you are going to strut around trying to pass yourself off as a Yahoo look alike you need to be able to stand the test of close scrutiny. Because you are too greedy to listen. Because you are stuffing up my business and I am pissed off that you dont understand this.
Show me the MFAs that are listed in alive. Let us know how a guy that works hard with fair business practices stuffs up your 'business'
maybe you should start filling up your empty categories instead of worrying so much about what others do http://www.directorymasters.net/directory/Internet_and_Web_Services/
Why? For what reason? It a long term project and we just hapen to be a little busy putting out fires started by people who should have known better. The difference is that I dont pretend that directory is anything its not. But its a good starting point all the same and the simple truth of the matter is that a link in that directory carries just as much weight in the serp's as a link in Aviva. If you dont agree prove me wrong.
