"My own search engine" using Google ?

Is it possible to earn money if I make my custom search engine with Google ? Or is just for personal use ? I hope you understand what i'm asking and pls be kind with me since this is my first thread started (i think) Thx.

 

Google have an API that lets you create scripts to query thier datacenters.

You can make your own search engine using googles search index. It will have a powered by google something. Many sites using it. A good example is aolsearch. The url is :search.aol(dot)com/aol/webhome

 

And does google pay AOL ? That is the question... i know that if i put their search code on my webpage i will earn money for searches/click on the sponsored results... but can i only put their code (or a custom one) and nothing else on a page ? And earn money from it...

 

You can earn money by adding google search on your own site. For example, I added google search on healthadel [dot] com and when people search and click adverts, I get paid.

Yeh, I think he wants to make his own search engine as above. It is possible but don't ask me how. As per making money I suppose you could sell links.

 

For exemple Firefox earns money the same way with the built-in search form (right corner - up).

 

I never knew that, thanks for the insight because FF must make quite a bit because I always use that search box and regularly click on sponsored results.
