actually the eu is talking about the european union which includes many european countries not just britain, so we will not be swamped with 20 million suddenly arriving on our shores.
and in actual fact the number of immigrants currently here is nearly always exaggerated by newspapers, though not specifically quantified in that article, who seek to sensationalise the problem.
you see clamping down on immigration is a real vote winner, unlike improving our hospitals, schools, and recognising that we have very real social problems that have given britain the unenvious record of having the highest schoolgirl pregnancy rate in europe and the most underage drinkers.
but what do we hear over and over again, just stop immigrants coming here and everything will be ok. despite the fact that most of our hospitals and schools are staffed by immigrant workers.
just ask any british person if he saw a british doctor on a recent visit to hospital, or for that matter a british cleaner or toilet attendant.
immigrants contribute to our nation, and in any case are in such small numbers that their presence would be by no means detrimental if those numbers were quadrupled.

Ask the french how happy are they with their african immigrants, or any other country that has significant number of african immigrants.
A lot of small towns in US are flooded with immigrants from south of the border and many of their residents are really pissed off of losing their own way of life.

(Europeans better learn to clean their own trash if they don't want to lose their culture and identity.)

 

It's OK to bring in SOME immigrants. But when you bring in millions upon millions of people a year, no society can handle that, It will break your culture and nation.

no i am not a muslim immigrant, i belong to no organised faith, and i am british through and through.
i do however work for several community based charities which have many volunteers of immigrant and native british background.
our nation has centuries of immigrant workers contributing to its economy and producing the cosmopolitan country i am very much proud of today.

 

The reason that the EU is doing this is because there is a lack of skilled workers within the EU to fill the jobs in the skilled sector!!!

These people are being brought in to work because the people in the EU are too lazy to do so themseleves and in the UK, the native population seem happy to sit on their backsides and claim benefits!

also asian's & african's would work at relatively lower cost.

back in the fifties there were no english workers prepared to d low paid mannual jobs so they shipped in thousands of people from the west indies. now it is more or less the same, these people fill a gap in the job market and so contribute to our society.
and a lot of these immigrants are not muslim, just for the record and not that it matters anyway, alot of immigrants arriving now are from eastern block countries.

The Irish economy has been booming exactly for that reason and if they are capable of hard work then there isn't a problem.

Sorry to split the news to you but Muslims have been living in this country and abide by our laws like most citizens. So they are guilty now because they follow money just like the majority of people who migrate to other countries? If they come for the money then that means they are hard workers, more than welcome in my books and I'm sure many other "forward" thinking people would share the same view.

They're going to "these" countries for skilled workers? The same type of skilled workers that all but ruined France last year in protests? Torching cars, running amok and generally terrorizing the city?
