Ok, about a month ago, when I first launched PS3Tag.com, I made a thread on Digital Point asking for some marketing tips. Like I said, it has been about a month since, so I wanted to fill everyone in on how the website's been doing and get some feedback. PS3Tag.com ***EDIT*** Here are the stats from our website. These show that we are actually doing much better then what I just reported, but you'll probably find the sources below more credible then the ones on our server. Anyways...... PS3Tag.com statistics (In a month) Members - 13, 000 members Daily unique visitors (average) - 2500 Total visits - 64,796 Unique visitors - 46,352 Alexa rank - 268, 310 Google position - We are the number 1 site in Google for phrases like "PS3 Tag" and "PS3 Tags" (we now own PS3Tags.com), as well as "PS3 Gamercards". Dnscoop.com estimated value - 22,900 dollars Google Pagerank - It's 0, but we've only been open a month, so we haven't had enough time yet to even earn a pagerank (These statistics were gathered from Google/Google analytics, Alexa, DNScoop.com, and from our own website ) We've only been open 1 month, so I think these stats are pretty good I have two questions: 1. What else do you think I can do to further push this website? What I'm doing now is advertising on different forums, telling everyone I know about the website, submitting to search engines and that's about it. You see, with the nature of this website, it advertises itself (visit the site and you'll see why). 2. How do you think I can get people to stay on the site longer? We have a blog, but we need someone else that will make them stay to even look at the blog.
Wow, that's pretty amazing mate. I'm very jealous I've been waiting years for a break through, yet I'm still waiting. Maybe you'd like to share with me some of your knowledge? I will give you a link on my PR4 MMORPG. Lee.
What did you do to bring such a ridiculous amount of visitors in 1 month? Blind hits from the domain name? Search engines (but its only been 1 month)? Paid advertising on or off the net? Press release? What gives?
Ok, sorry I wasn’t able to get back to all of you sooner. Most of my success with this website has come from the architecture of the system. This website offers users the chance to dynamically create and use PlayStation 3 gamercards on their website or on different forums (think of the Xbox 360 gamercard if you’re familiar with that). So, to capitalize off this, we’ve attached our logo to every tag and we’ve made each one of them clickable, so when clicked on, they redirect to the users profile on our site. We currently have 13, 000 members, so those thousands and thousands of people are either using them or discussing them and we’re receiving hits back to the main site. This eventually helps us get picked up by bigger websites like PS3Fanboy and other large video game websites. Also, in that single month, we acquired/merged with our largest competitor to PS3Tag.com (PS3Tags.com with the “sâ€), so we’re receiving their hits as well. Anyone who was using their tags will see a red x and will be redirected to our site whenever they tried to visit it. How it’s so successful - The system itself - Search engines: Like I mentioned before, we are already number 1 or on the first page of keywords like “PS3 Tagâ€, “PS3 Tagsâ€, “PS3 Gamercardâ€, “PS3 Gamercardsâ€, etc. My co-partner in this project designed a really advanced system to help target keywords. Around the time we launched, there was a lot of buzz over Sony releasing their own Gamercard, so everyone was searching with those terms. -Timing: We entered the market at the perfect time. Again, there were rumors of Sony doing the same thing and at that time, there was only one competitor, who really had ceased all work on the site. - Buying out/merging with the competition. - Advertising on different video game forums. Ex: We advertised on the official PlayStation forums and in total, they gave us 12, 000 hits. To BRUm: PM me the site and I’ll check it out, then tell you.
hey man those figures speak for themselves. it seems like you are doing a fantastic job with the site. keep going the way you are and you will be able to make a lot of money for your website mate. you interested in selling the site by any chance?
I hope that's true Not really, I'd prefer to build up the website and watch it grow. I love working on it, so it would be impossible for me to part with it. You didn't give me offer, but, even if I was willing to sell it, I doubt anyone here could afford it at the price I'd be willing to sell it for.
Great job - it seems like you have a fantastic and diverse system - i've seen and used a bunch of gamercard sites for the 360 but have never come across one as flexible as yours appears to be. Plus most gamercard sites focus on just that - whereas you having regularly updated news is a double-header. One suggestion would be looking into perhaps developing your system into a forum mod for phpbb, vB etc, where a users stats will show under their avatars and even potentially in a forum members' league table. (sorry if you already do this and i've overlooked it - didn't spot anything of this nature when checking out the site though)
Wow, you're the guy behind the site? I own a PS3 and me and all my friends use the site. Well done man.
That's amazing, but really I can tell what the success is from. You have a good niche, you give a product, people like it and they refer to you, and you have a nice design and domain. Good for SERP's and good for users. Best of luck.
Thats false data I bet, only text in your homepage is itself 22.53 KB (not to talk about graphics) and how can average bandwidth per hit be just 4 KB, 4 KB is almost nothing what will that page have? If some starts to calculate those data all seems to be fake. Well if it isn't plz tell the hidden truth about the data shown pic
Very well done for getting that kind of traffic, but I think (as I always have, and likely always will) that if you really want to monetize that traffic, the very first thing to do is set up a form to get their e-mail addresses. Offer some free product or service (often times "get the latest PS3 info" is enough), and collect their usernames. Then send them e-mails every now and then, and start promoting things as well. Something I've been known to do is to capture e-mail addresses, and just send them my blog posts. I send a few, and say "if you want more, read my blog". I've found that a lot of traffic comes to the site, but doesn't stay for long, and doesn't really read the blog. If I capture their e-mail address (which a lot are more than willing to do if I offer them some free report or something), then they already have my blog posts in their inbox. If they like what they see, then I've just converted someone who had no intentions of looking at my blog in to a daily reader. Basically, it is my firm belief that if you do not set up a newsletter of some sort, you are wasting a lot of your traffic, and it has always baffled me as to why a vast amount of marketers can't be bothered with it. I didn't make a dime until I started collecting people's e-mail addresses, and it's worked for me for a few years now. Good luck with the site, whichever road you decide to take. PM me if you have any questions or concerns.
I really like the idea of that. It's definitely something to look into and I know our members would enjoy having that feature. Yes, I agree. Nope, they're not false and I'm not going to waste time debating that. Why do you think I posted the statistics below that? I actually posted that image after the statistics, but I know they weren't going to be taken as a credible source, which is why I added that message above it. If you don't believe the ones from our site, you can see the stats below the image, which for the most part are public record. If you want to see proof of the Google analytics, I'll PM you, I'm not sure what Google's policy is on posting them being posted in public. Actually, we've done that (collected the emails) and have a mass email system. Right now, we're just waiting until we finish our newsletter. I think sending them a blog post every once in awhile is a good idea though. Thanks.
