Does ANYONE own a .eu domain that is ranking well in the UK for a competitive search term?
    They seem overlooked by G

eu domains are the same with other domain extensions.

every domain extension will rank according to your backlink power

Yes that is what we are taught.
However that appears incorrect, at least in the first 18 months of a domains life
A country sprecif end such as co.uk always ranks far quicker than org, com, net. eu for me.

Why? because the "people" are in the EU and they want a domain name that is already taken in .com/.net etc.

BTW, you can only buy .eu domain if you are a European resident.

In the UK on google.co.uk from the 20 + .eu websites I own I seem to find they are a drawback.
A co.uk on a three month old website has a good chance of ranking
Add a .eu amd heck not in the top thousand!
I don't think that .eu is in Europe accoring to G

    1) .COM / LOCAL EXTENSION IS NR1 IF GOOGLE+local ext.
    2) .NET
    3) .ORG
    4) .BIZ, .INFO

Having domains other than local extension for local site or .com is a handicap, you can catch up with a lot of work, but in a very competitive environment, you have no chance, in this case it's like starting a race 5 minutes after the others (your competitors using dot com or local extension).

    There is indeed a hierarchy.

I didn't count edu and gov, as they are not used for commercial purposes.
