    Hi All

I've been using an observing web directories for a while, and I must say that the way most people describe the qualities of a good directory is mildly diverting,

So , do kindly pick a poll item,

    Okay , I'll vote after/if this gets going :)

My choice wasn't up there, although I think it takes a few characteristics. When submitting to paid review directories, my main concern is not only the backlinks (PR if you will), but especially the fact that my site will be listed along with other quality websites and that the directory itself isn't whoring itself out by selling sitewide links.

    I deliberately restricted the options,

I hope people will select the option that is closest to their opinion

My chose is not there as well.
I cant find a choice that is close to say, it must have features and categories not cloned as such.
Also nothing to say a directory must have more features that just listing a website with a link and a small description.

    Exactly... ;)

The days off just offering a backlink and details page is about over.
Todays directory must be able to offer much more in my opinion
to be able to compete with other directories as well as offer more
    resources to the engines.

    thx

I think high editorial integrity makes a good directory.

Though it seems survival of directory only sites is bit harder now. :)

    Thanks for your comment.

I do offer more features like I said before to up load LOGO's, Documents, Images, Allows users to display products to sell, or Buy or services done all with pricing, Google map to address, rating, comments, Top Banner side banner, listing in multiple categories and lots more in my directory

BUT VERY SAD that even after advertising a lot I just find1 in 100 users to utilise the resources partially that they can use to promote their business for FREE.

I got to find a solution for this.

Please, help me if you can give a better solution.

    Thanks,
    Bytestor.

Directories need to pass traffic. That means they need to add content real users are going to go looking for. Not really a brainer this one. Its got to be content and content only.

We use free scripts, no graphics and no filler content in our directories. Ths just so people dont get the wrong idea. Neither do we accept MFA sites like some of the Authority Sites that get bandied around as the Strongest Directories on this forum :p
