If your site is new, give it some time (like a couple of days) and proper ads will appear.

There right if your site is new, you need to give it some time.
If your site is old, then yes you can eliminate them.

Try to post some quality content. The topic should focus on one keyword and you wait. Public ads will disappeared.

yep there is a little delay for adsensebot to crawl your site, or maybe you have adult content

Or maybe you have overused some "stop words" such as "kill", "murder", "suicide", and such.

You may not want to focus on one keyword - should be two or three minimum as backup.

AdWords advertisers often set daily spending limits to their campaigns.

A single word page can run-thin on quality ads later on in the day.

If there are several good keywords, chances are good that quality ads with a decent pay-per-click will display 24 hours a day.

the stop words theory that stackman mentions is very certainly THE explanation, so if you don't want to show your URL so we can tell you which one it is, then deal with your problem yourself, use common sense to determine which might be the stop words.

When you setup your ads you can choose to show public service ads or an ad that you make.. Just make a default banner to replace the public service ads.. Like everyone else said, you might need to add more content.

psa ads tend to show up on forum pages, lyrics sites, youtube scraping sites, etc... places that don't have targeted content.

it's also possible that your sector does not have too many advertisers in it... you need to post more info to get answers to this problem.

I noticed on the site in our signature, that you use numbers in the url's like

Instead you should use keywords like

Adsense will start showing relevant ads within a few minutes, rather than a few days.
