Cool. I'm building that 72 dolalr computer from Popular Science and I don't want to spend any money to buy an OS. So this is the perfect solution. I checked it out and its perfect.
You do not have to buy, but you will paid for service ( such as maintain OS, training ..) It also cost much if you are not expert.
For Linux I recommend visit this website for Tutorials and HowTo's http://www.howtoforge.com This website helped me a lot.
There are a total of approx. 2 virus for linux. Both were proof of concept, neither is for Ubuntu. I actually feel bad for you. Locked into Apple hardware? I'd take the viruses any day. Firstly, learn English. There's no such thing as "more better". Next, learn something about computers. Linux has always been ahead of Windows on features, except on usability. A door with no locks is more secure than a Windows machine. Quote saved for future use
Linux should spend a lot of time to do to be popular as windows. But if the copyright is more strict, i think linux will become the first choice.
what a bunch of crock. Only noobs get viruses on windows. Like being cheap and downloading freeware and junk like that. yah then your gonna viruses probably. But you won't Just "get viruses" out of nowhere.. jeez.
There are more noobs then experienced ones and the experienced ones know that linux is far far better than windows. You must be in the middle.
I Never had linux installed on my hard-drive, but that i hear all these risk free and secure environment thing about it, i'll consider installing a copy on a partition too fool around with it a bit. If i like I may keep it or switch to it all together
What is your criteria to distinguish noob and experienced? I can said that both linux and windows has its own adventage. Depends on your requirement, you can chose linux or windows. Ex: you can not chose linux for game.
Well what if a noob went to a site, and it a window look alike layover window asking them to download something? then javascript locking the page. A noob would probably download the file. or noobs going on limewire and searching for warez or cracked programs and downloading .zips but not looking at the file Size and downloading files that are like 50KB and unzipping them..virus.
Your example does not persuade me. When u said someone is an expert, you have to point out he is an expert in which area. For ex: he is an expert in virus, but maybe is worst in playing game.
I have used the internet since I was 10 and not yet have I gotten a virus attack and I know I am not the exception. Many other people have been using it way longer then I have and still no virus. The thing is do not visit sites you are not sure of and more importantly do not download anything that is not from a reputable site.
You're one of the very few. Most computers would get infected. Even if they don't supporting a poorly written, but well marketed product is nothing short of insulting good programmers. For the other guy, the expert i'm talking about is the exact opposite of your noob.
