Directory union

Ive never used one or had to yet but i know they dont come cheap, you guys must have some mega $ riding on some sites to have or need a Laywer.

I cant imagine its an easy job to get involved in a legal argument involving online busineses with such differences between countries and legalities, the difficulty in communications alone would be a nightmare.

I think you would need to hire a legal representative abroad to deal with it for you unless its in your own country.

Infact i think fighting a legal battle to do with online business would be one of the most messy things, the complications running through my head regarding this, makes me dizzy.

 

Always need to make sure that your protected wether personal or business dealings.
An attorney has many functions and can many times offer advice or get things moving faster.
If its overseas then the retainer fee in place is used for the attorney so he can do his thing in that specific region.

Designers that work on my projects... i have 3 readily available (Here at DP) if and when needed if one cant do something
hopefully the other 2 can be contacted and get what you need done.

Well i hope i never need to get involved in a legal battle with anyone over the internet, its not a pleasant thought and mostly avoidable in the majority of cases.

I guess there are specialist Legal people who deal specifically with online companies.

Well i guess its nice to know that you have designers readily available when you need them and not have to hunt around. A 2nd or 3rd backup is a good idea.

 

We already run a union. However we choose to call it a cooperative and we will join and participate in as many as there are because we believe its necessary. However we differ in many respects and principally in that we see the function of a cooperative being to open doors and to assist prospective directory owners to make success of the directories they start. Secondly we believe that a fish rots from the head down and that this industry is going through a crisis because we allowed greed to get the better of common sense.

 

When or if something ever happens then you will need to be prepared as you dont know what actions another company or individual may take against you.

In these type of cases as mentioned above a portion off the fees that are in "retainment" or (Hold) are sent to whatever attorney is deemed the best to represent our interest at home or abroad.

Its adviced that you not try to defend yourself as another vetern attorney will eat you alive in court and theirs so many small details and technicalities or loopholes so its best just to place a retainer and let them do thier thing if and when needed.

Thanks for the advice Malcolm, i will take it on board and do a little bit of reading regarding these matters, i guess i should never think it can never happen.

There are some differences between our 2 countries, USA and UK, in that (not speaking for all here) that the States is Lawsuit crazy, you can be served a drink in MacDonalds thats too hot and then take it through the courts because it burned your tongue.

I would say its down to the Law firms encouraging craziness like that, naturally to create business for themselves.
