Keyword gathering tool?

I am trying to find a tool/bit of code that will grab both the content text and the meta data from a html file and add the words to a database. The reason is so that I can look at my competitors pages and get a list of the words they use and how many times they occur.
I know that keyword density isnt really valid any more but it would just be an easy way to see if I have missed relevant keywords. I could write one but I am sure there must be something out there?

Does anyone know any such code or tools?

Looks like there is nothing out there or I am trying to do something thats not worth doing?

I was thinking of using it to sort of look at latent semantic indexing, ie look at my competitors sites and see what other words they are using that are associated with their subject matter and their keywords.

I have had a look at keyword elite and I cant get a trial of any sort. Reading about it it doesnt really seem the right thing for me.

I am not trying to make money building sites for adsense, I just have 5 holiday flats that I want to promote. So I sort of know the keywords that I need to promote, but I am thinking that LSI seems hold quite a bit of weight within my competitors. Reason I say this is that some of the competitors dont seem to have a clue about SEO stuff and they have fairly new domain names with very little content. But they are still above me, I have managed (with lots of reading here ) to get my site on page 1 or 2 on Google, but would like to get in the top 6 for most of my keywords as Google have started putting Local business results at the top of the page meaning that only the top 6 sites get shown on thhe front page.
In fact some of the ones beating me dont even contain the keywords that I have searched for!!!
So my conclusion is that LSI is playing a big part.
So I thought a tool that gets all the content then gives me a list of words and occurances might help me.

    LSI plays no part.

If the site you are promoting is clevelandcourt.co.uk then everything is more or less ok except for two things.

Firstly the home page text reads like it was written to be read by the search engines rather than potential customers.

Secondly there is a marked absence of high quality inbound links.

If you rectify these two anomalies and you are patient then the site will rank very well.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks very much for taking the time to have a look at my site. I must admit that the content was written for the search engines. I am now worried that if I change it for visitors I will loose my page 1/2 serps.

I have looked at my 10 highest competitors and analyse their keywords and phrases so I was going to test out my theory on one of my other sites that doesnt rank very well and see what serp change that makes.

I must admit that I dont really know how to get high quality back links, I dont know where to start. I am worried that if I buy some Google will not look on it as a good thing.

    Thanks.

I was thinking that the Firefox plugin Niche Watch Tool could be a good way to go for you. The other tool would be SEOQuake which can provide keyword analysis as well. Between the two you should be all set. Both are free.

Other things I was thinking would be to try to find real estate sites listing the same type of information, just in a non-competing market location. See if you could get some backlinks to the specific articles you've written.

Also, see if you could get some local bloggers to write a post about your holiday flats.

Lastly, I agree with some of the others; write for the reader, not for the search engines.

Thanks very much for the suggestions. I have re-written the front page of www.blackpool-holidayflats.net so will upload that soon and see if that works, then change my main site. But I like the blog and articles idea, thanks.

Thanks very much for your help.
